Wiring Help

I only needed to hook up 4 wires to make mine work.

The two closest to the drivers side go to the temp sensor. BROWN & GREEN/BLACK
The closest one to the passenger side goes to ignition power. PINK
The one next to that is ground. BLACK
I didn't need the middle ones.

OK, ill try what i see also...
So here are the colors from drivers side to passenger side..
BROWN, GREEN/BLACK, ORANGE, LIGHT BLUE, GREEN, BLACK, PINK

OK, went back to the junkyard.... Prolly shouldnt have.. Ive got a bunch of temp sensors now. But before i walked out i saw a 2004 Saturn Vue with a DUAL temperature compass black face. WHere mine either shows just the temp or the compass at one time this one shows both! So of course i took it home for the sale price of 4 dollars. It has different color wires to it and a different type of pigtail. It is more square than rectangular. It has a total of5 wires going to it. Gray, black, yellow, green, green/black. I also took the temp sensor from that exact truck which has the green/black, and gray wires going to it. So those two are solved. I am guessing the green is the reverse signal wire and yellow is power and black is ground, but im not 100% sure. I really want to use this one and sell my first one i just installed with auto dim and compass only, so i have 3 mirrors total now. My buddy even got one today for his 98 dodge ram. He found one with auto dim, onstar,temp, and compass. I really didnt want the onstar buttons so i let him have it...

Yes it only shows one at a time, look at my first pic, this is the earlier generation before it went to the dual screen, as i look at the new one i can see where the temp is on the bottom and the compass is on the top. My other one only portrays one at a time...

Ok i need help, there are 16 pins on my new pigtail for the new mirror. Where do you wire pin 9?? It is the reverse dim function. I hook it to negative and the mirror dims, then i shine light at it and it clears, but its doing the opposite i need it to do! It needs to be clear then dim! WHen i put it to positive it just stays dimmed. Thanks!!

Hey DS, seeings how the console is the wrong color would you be interested in selling it?

Leo

OK i figured out the mirror now i am at the homelink, it has 3 wires, white, orange and black. DOes anyone know what these go to?

Orange is +12V Constant (hot all the time)
Black = Ground

Believe the 3rd wire (on my Olds Bravada origin console it's PPL/WHT) is a dimming signal - connected to a source that goes +12V when headlights/parking lights go on.

Ok, i here are some pics, they came out kinda crappy, i used the old digital camera (forgot mine). THe line in the middle of the rearview mirror is the reflection of the coaxial cable that runs along the back window for a scanner. I was told to connect the reverse auto-dim disableing green wire to neg. If you do that then the mirror will start out dimmed and when you shine light at it it will go clear, which is the exact opposite of what should happen. SO with that green wire you must leave it dangle, not connected to positive OR negative. Then the mirror will dim correctly. THe homelink has three wires, orange, white and black. Black obviously ground, orange is power to the unit itself, and white is the interior lights for the buttons. Looks good, all i need to do is get lucky and find a maroon cloth one, i would just do it myself at an arts and crafts store, but im just being picky. Next will be the installation of the 60/40 split bench fold down console. I cant wait, this thing is loaded!!

Finally got me one of these mirrors. Mine has auto dim, compass, and temperature. I also scored the temperature probe that mounts in front of the truck.

Mine has 7 wires. They are brown, green/black, green, pink, gray, black, and orange.

I am trying to figure out what wire goes where. Correct me if I am wrong, from this thread I am guessing they go,

Black = ground
Pink = ignition power
Brown = temperature probe
Green/Black = temperature probe
Gray = ??
Green = What is the reverse signal? What does it connect to?
Orange = 12+V constant What for, to keep compass in working order???

What does the gray wire connect too?

I pulled this out of around a 99 suburban.

I got this for $7 at the pick and pull.

there is a Phillips screw on the front of the console that holds it in. remove it and it will drop down then just slide it forward to remove.
my mirror is too high for my console, came from GM that way. i manipulated the mirror mount arm to pull it as far down as it would go. it's better but still shows the console.
Dieselslug, if you want to get another console color, look no farther than a place that sells fabric. flip the console over, remove the 8 or 10 screws that hold the plastic and fabric part together. peel off the fabric, spray on contact cement to both fabric and plastic, pull fabric around until all wrinkles are gone, replace screws and you are done. should take less than 30 mins.
