What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Multi colored sometimes deferr the thieves makes them think it’s just an old egg beater not worth much. It’s what’s inside and under the hood that what counts !! If I find a camper shell somewhere cheap there’s no telling what color will get added to the mix 🤪

One of these days I want to have it painted. I still can’t decide what color though. Have debated on going back to original color Autumnwood metallic (beige) or like a couple of Toyota taco trucks I’ve seen in town. They were painted with a solid military brown that had a slight dark green hugh to it. Not sure what color it’s called But it’ll be a while before that happens. Had a friend offer to spray it if I bought the paint

Dropped off 3 gallons of Dex Mercon ATF and Allen bolts for the transmission pan. Took some pics of vehicles parked there and of the shop. OK maybe I was a little tough with “multi-colored beater”, but how do you get a 6-lug 3/4 ton truck?

I replaced the passenger side mirror on my wife’s 4Runner. She smashed it while backing out of the garage in Montana. Took me 30 minutes, including watching the how to video on removing the door panel. Hope there isn’t a 2nd time, but that would take less than 15 minutes. TYC mirror was $53+ and shipping off of RockAuto. TYC are generally pretty well done aftermarket replicas, made in Taiwan.

My wife did that to her 1988 Buick. I got done fixing the drivers side mirror, she backs the car out of the garage and balam, there goes the passenger side mirror. I do believe I used some bad words that morning.😵‍💫🤬🤬🤬😹😹😹😹

Hell yeah. This is the 2nd time she clipped the 4Runner in 3 months, drivers side fender the first time. She blames it on lack of depth perception, which is complete BS as she drives it in just fine. She backs out relying on the back up camera and does not look at the mirrors, which is what she needs to clear. She also goes crazy on the wheel which is unnecessary. It is a narrow garage with a 7'9" opening, but if you can drive straight in, you can back straight out. Just don't go crazy with the steering wheel. In fact don't move it at all. Also, turn the inside lights on in the garage when it's dark, duh.

I put her in the penalty box, forcing her to park outside and told her she needs to take driving lessons.

Vicki says I yell at Her, she gets upset because I do. In Billings, she be driving wrong direction on a four lane two way street. Vicki move over a lane to Your right. Cars coming straight at us, Vicki, move over one lane to the right. Now cars are right there. GOD DAMMIT MOVE THE *=#*€ OVER. So then she crosses two lanes to Her left, in fron of the cars that had to stop so she would not get hit, pulls over yelling at me because I was yelling at her, wll then You just drive. OH MY GOD, THAAAAANK YOUUUUUU. 😹😹😹😹

Last week in Billings. Need fuel in the 08 Malibu. A gas station, she pulls in on the wrong side, tank is on the right, So she goes around the island, a car had pulled to one of the pumps on the side she was going to use. Pulls way far forward, backs towards the pump. Hits the concrete island, leaves a nasty red mar and scar on the lower right side below the bumper. She comes out of the station and tells me that I will need to fix that. I told her, screw that, you could have avoided that wreck if You would have used Your mirrors. I told Her tjat I had already repaired the last damage to this car that I am going to repair. Now You can start fixing Your own 💩.
OKAY, RANT OVER. 😹😹😹😹

Marty, I’m drinking Napa Cabernet after installing a new fart fan in a bathroom for my sister, so hold on.

Back in the day, before we were married, we would do annual fishing trips towing a boat down Baja to the East Cape area. We would fish for blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, dorado, sailfish. Tow rig was a 1973 Ford Bronco with a 302 and 3 spd manual. Boat was a 20’ Center Console.

There was this dangerous curve (marked “curva peligrosa) at the end of a climb out of the Vizcaino desert. Curve is dowhill and marked well in advance. Wifey is barreling into it at excessive speed. I’m telling her slow down. Slow down! SLOW THE **** DOWN! She gets into the curve with excessive speed. The outside of the curve has a drop of several hundred feet into a wash. We’re gonna die. She stomps the breaks. Trailer starts to jack knife badly to the outside of the curve. I scream for her to stomp the gas. She does and straightens it out. We f’n made it and that is a turn where we’ve seen fatal accidents on other trips. I did not say a thing until we got to level highway. I told her to pull over. I poked my testicles out of my neck and took the wheel and drove the rest of trip, which was 1,700 miles more. I lost 8 of my f’n 9 lives right at that f’n turn.

Planning to install a reman power steering box from Napa on my 96 K1500 along with a new power steering pump. The pump whines sometimes and the steering box has a lot of play in it.The steering wheel moves quite a bit before the sector shaft begins to rotate so I’m taking it off the first chance I get.Maybe tomorrow I’ll get a start on it so I can bring the core back to Napa since it’s worth just about $180.

I also bought a power steering filter from them so I wouldn’t void the warranty.

Make sure it's right and feels good (no slop) reman boxes are from A-1 Cardone and they are known for just slapping in a seal kit or mix-matching internals. not saying your's is bad out of the box, just the history the market has on reman stuff for the past few years.

Years ago, I installed a reman pump and steering gear box from NAPA.
It all worked very well for about 100,000 miles. I sold the K1500 to a guy that pit quite a few miles in it, before He literally destroyed the truck.

And diesel princess wonders why I'm nervous about teaching her to drive...gonna fix up the 2000 GMC c3500 for her when taxes come in..( after getting the dually back in shape) ... I figure that truck is built strong enough that if she gets in a wreck she should be safe...

Amazingly in major crash, you’re better off in a rig with the airbags everywhere.
The whole thing we all figure is big, heavy, strong truck means your safe in a crash. But unless you actually get squished inside the car, it’s better to have the car collapse and absorb the impact.
The first couple years of airbags caused injuries, but any airbags from late 90’s foreword you get minor issues- way less than what would have happened hitting dash, steering wheel, or side windows.

Look up injuries for drivers and passengers in pickups- and it will make you re-think owning one if you can afford something different.

If I was rich and famous (well at least the rich part) I would get tesla model S for each of my family members. Those things are so far off the charts as the safest ever tested they are talking about making a new rating system
Years ago my wife was driving a saturn sl2, got tbone in driver’s door by an Olds delta 88 doing 60. Eveyone wearing seatbelts. 3/4 in olds got hurt, only a big guy in back seat got released on scene. Wife had to have cut in side of her head stapled together where her glasses got pushed against skull so hard the frame of the glasses cut her skin, and a headache for a couple hours. No other injury. In the olds: broken arms, broken legs, split open faces, drivers jaw broken and missing teeth from steering wheel. All teenagers in the olds. Sad.

That crash got me to looking into what happens instead of just guessing.

When I drive my hummer by myself, I fly down the hiway. Family with me and I drive very different. Built a serious roof structure in place of the open top for handling a slow roll over with family in it just in case. 1” DOM tubing to 2” tied to each point and the factory rear kicker 2” bars. 2 layers of 16 gauge steel. Great for roll over- and that rig handles T-bone like a dream. But front end collision- things could go way wrong, so I built a brushgaurd out of 2” - the one in the video I knocked down the block wall with. That will help intrusion, but is bad for same reason pickups are bad = all that energy goes through the heavy duty frame and the people inside absorb all the g-force.

I think the best example of it is 59 bel air vs the 2009.
