What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

A guy called Me a while ago. He said He knows someone that wants to get rid of a 6.2 diesel engine, said it came from a roll over 3/4 ton vehicle.
I just do not have room to store any more stuff, as much as I would like having the engine setting here.
Might tell Him to tell them to haul it off.

Try and find out how much and put it in the for sale section just in case somebody in your area needs a spare or replacement. Or better yet, get him to join and do it.

Hate to see a good rattle toy go to waste.

Makes me wonder... a hammer was obviously my favorite toy as a baby, but was a rattle the 2nd most and that's why the 6.2/6.5 feels natural?

I stopped at the parts store and got a length of clear plastic fuel hose, going to get that on the return line real soon, possibly today if the weather permits.
need to take a little time for the garden first though.

Got the length of clear fuel hose installed in the return line.
Just in time too, it strted raining when I was just finishing.
I do not recommend performing this operation when the engine is near operating temp, that thermostat housing gets mighty uncomfortable when the fingers is placed upon it.
No bubbles in this system. LOL

How about some good pics of the reflectors when you get them?
They seem like fair quality. Same construction as the current units I have on the truck. Those I got from LMC and they are better than a different set up I purchased and sent back from another distributor. I thought these buckets would have more of a hexagonal sculpting, at least that's what the pictures seemed to show. Just an illusion formed by the horizontal lines on the lenses.

Shot of the unit from below shows the typical shape of the buckets.

Low Beams. They have the Bulb Cap on the low beam side that my current ones have and despite running the Superwhatevers from Sylvania, those have stayed put.

High Beams.

The directions are written very well too. These are written specifically for a GM-400 and if one had never done a headlight swap, these will not leave you in a typical 'Haynes Manual' dilemma / conundrum of 'What, where, how, AArrrggghhh!'

Yesterday I had to jump the truck to get it started.
Today, the voltage indicator was reading real low.
Checked battery voltage, 12.56, checked alternator out put, 14.58.
Removed battery cables and scrubbed them real good with a wire brush.
Now battery voltage is reading 14.50. Must a fixed that problem.
The cable ends had some burn/melt spots on them along with the lead spacer.
Should be good to go for a while now. LOL

i've replaced all my lead contacts with copper and all wires have been replaced with heavy gauge.
YUP, going to call around and see if I can get the cable spacer in copper.
The lead unit is pretty well melted here and there, where it was making the most contact, or weak contact. LOL

If you can, go to a top post setup. So much more surface area for the sparktricity to flow, much stronger physical connection, and the weight of the cable doesn't pull directly against the fastner.

On combo batteries, all the manufactures tell you use the top post for the heavier electrical loads whenever possible.

That sounds to Me like a better option than trying to maintain these side terminals. I even have enough crimp and solder top post terminals to get the job done. LOL
I have My friend order components for me through his Amazon Prime. Yesterday He texted and said that some of My parts had showed up at His place, the other components will be here today, He had to make a road trip so could not get them today.
After I get those components in Mine fingers, I`ll start working in the boost fooler system, using a 10,000 ohm variable resistor in the form of a volume control. Going to mount that under the dash, away from prying eyes that might try messing with it if them eyes aint being watched. LOL
I`m hoping that will clear up some of the black smoke, under load, and get Me a mile or two to the gallon increase.
