What are the threads on an OEM lift pump?

hey guys,

I had the idea of using a OEM lift pump to pump fuel from my bed mounted l-shaped tank into my main tank on my recent buy, the 93 K2500.

It is allready gravity, but figured I would put a filter in, and then suck through the filter to speed up the transfer. I have allready bought a plain old filter from napa, it is cheap, has a mounting base, and a water drain, so now deciding on what fittings I need for plumbing in the OEM type pump.

my theory for this is that in an emergency, I can shut the tank off and rob the LP to replace the frame mounted LP, if it goes south on a trip, and either plub it for gravity, or just use the truck tank.

if the fittings are special, would I have good luck cutting the line out of my junker 91 K2500, and just hose clamping rubber line to the metal line?

thanks guys!

I might be able to come up with the fittings. They are unique being a metric thread and an oring seal.

that would be great.

also, what prices are Fluidamprs these days? I need a mechanical IP version.

also, can you get a good price on auto-meter guages and a pillar pod?

I am setting up my new 93, and would like to lay the foundation for upgrades first, starting with a fluidampr, a K47, and maybe a 99.5+ water pump and fan, and of course guages. that way, I can keep it safe, and monitor how it changes as I add upgrades. it is currently the main gooseneck pickup, so it will tow fairly heavy.

thanks again!

Should be able to check fitting tomorrow & I'll get FD price too.
I don't do gauges.
Thanks

Try egauges for gauges. The first three I ordered came from there.

The last two came from Amazon. My wife is signed up for Amazon Prime. You just can not beat free three day shipping. With the free shipping, nobody came close for the price of the gauges.

I used the e gauges website to find the gauge I wanted then used google shopping to find the cheapest place to purchase it at.

Thats great and why I don't even try to sell them, way to much competition and inventory.

Why not replace the factory lift pump with a low pressure Walbro and be done with it? They are very difficult to kill and I have tried. Most other pumps including rotary vane Carters didn't make more than 6 months on my 93. Loose the tank sock and use the walbro included screen or a large spin on pre lift pump. Use what you like for the non-critical fuel transfer including carrying a 'rattler' siphon hose backup pump.

I take it the fluidamprs have gone up for everyone, and you still have one of the best prices?

being indecisive has cost me alot of $. "should have bought that or this last year when it was cheaper!" etc

as far as the LP, I seem to be getting along fine with the OEM system.... so far... first time it screws me over, I will think alot about something else! :)

I think they went up on the FD right after the last group buy I did??
I did find a source for new LP fittings at $14.50 ea.
Let me know.

lets wait till payday (friday for me) and I will see what I can afford. concerning the fittings, do they have barbed ends?

also, do you sell injectors?

I am thinking I need a boost bolt and the 4wd oil filter adapter seal kit. what brand and material is the seal kit?

finally, I cant afford it yet, but in the diamond eye exhaust, does it come with a muffler, a delete pipe, or both? does pricing change on configuration?

thanks!

I'm sure we all know that feeling. As for Fluid Dampeners, I just googled Fluidampr 800141 and checked a couple of sites I research and prices are ranging between $454 with S/H to $409 with Free UPS Ground...

PMD Cable (site vendor): $450. Not sure about s/h
Summit: $454 plus s/h
Dieselmanor: $454 plus s/h
Jegs: $438 plus s/h
Heath Diesel (site vendor): $415 plus s/h
XDP: $409 free S/H UPS ground and there's a $5 discount if you use another site's code where they are a sponsor.

Let your personal preference and wallet be your guide.

It can be ordered with, or, without the muffler. I ordered mine with the muffler. When I installed I found that I had enough pipe to install without the muffler if I wanted.

Dont sell injectors (yet working on that with another member).
Orings are buna rubber.
The fittings will have a 18" length of tubing with a flange on the end for a clamp. They can be cut as short as needed, but you loose the flange (not a big deal)
If you need a HB I would jump real fast on that $409 paul posted. Thats the old price and they have not updated it looks like. Hopefully they will honor it?. At $409, paypal fees and shipping that way below my cost.

dumb question on the seal kit, does one need to loctite the adapter fitting that holds the whole mess to the block, or just torque it well?

kinda broke here lately, so a boost bolt, a oil filter seal kit, and the two lift pump fittings look like they made the list for sure, and I will see what else, if anything else, I can afford on friday.

Is the price different on exhausts ordered straight piped or muffled? I am thinking straight pipe, but if I dont like it, there is no going back, whereas if I get the one with the muffler, if they still send as much pipe as handcannon got, then I can still straightpipe it. decisions, decisions...

not that it makes any dfifference though, as I just blew the exhaust fund last week on a set of PYOs off a 07.5-10 truck with the new style caps and 25-30 percent tires on them. considering mine are bald, and badly weatherchecked, (one even has a nice cut) I figured keeping tires from blowing out and ripping my new pretty truck up was worth doing tires before exhaust.

on a final note, leroy, do you need some buckets from a suburban? there is a local guy selling a set with the console IIRC from a 92-94 gasser burb, in your favorite color of red. they look as pretty as the ones you currently have in your burb.

thanks for the input guys!

If he doesnt then I might adapt them to fit my 93 Dually!

On the Exhaust set up, my 5in for the Dmax (Diamond Eye) came with a muffler delete pipe and I had to cut nearly a foot off (in another place) to make it fit.

Dont have a diamond eye for a 6.5 yet, I built my own 3in set ups with dumps before the rear axle on my 93 and 95, the 94 might get my old dmax system (now that ol blue has been push into the shop).

Yes the DE is available w/o muffler price would drop $20 off $299 so $279.

If you were closer I would have liked the seats and my brother is looking for a set too, but in the tan/wheat color. If Tanner can use them......

Don't loctite the bolt just snug it up real good. The orings will do the sealing. The old one leak because they get hard and brittle after so many miles. You might check it though on the next couple oil changes to be sure its still snuged down.

I always never-seez my fuel lines & brake lines. I slide the fitting back and put the anti-seez on the line and fitting threads. I smear the never seez all over the line where it will be covered by the fitting and behind the fitting. I have far fewer problems with removal years down the road
