Weird crank but no start issue

There never was a code. Not with my scanner and not with my Edge CTS3.

WarWagon, You don't think I should rebuild the filter head?

No. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

You can confirm it's still going soft with your electric booster lift pump? This may be the add on pump not keeping up and perhaps it's causing you problems rather than helping or you have a restriction in the fuel system.

It may only need a repair if you still have hard starting after sitting say overnight.

So, overnight wasn't an issue. But after a couple of days, it was hit or miss, mostly miss. I had already ordered the seal kit. It came in on Wednesday. Thursday night, I figured it wouldn't hurt, so I pulled the filter head. Yup, seals were cracked and flattened. The top primmer seal and the smaller o-ring under the plastic cylinder were cracked and distorted, bad. Not a bad job.

Pulled it out, resealed the head and had it back in, in about a half an hour. All of this was in the dark by flashlight. The Dorman seals were not the best of quality and leaked, extremely bad. Friday morning I had an IAC contest to go photograph. I stopped at the NAPA between here and the airport picked up another seal kit and $4 of 1/2" fuel line. Hard to believe that 10" molded fuel line from the "in" on the head to the FIMC is over $110. Friday night I got the new top end seals replaced and everything back in, in no time. All is working as advertised now. I have to now go back to the dealer that put my injectors in. I was charged for the fuel lines to be replaced and discuss why I found things not finished on the top end when they were putting it back together.

I'm going to try to track down the photos of the old Racor filter I put in the 1995 pick up I had. It was a marine head that had the priming pump on it and took a marine filter that filtered to 2 microns. If it's still manufactured.

Post numbers and a link if you find it.
