Warning: eDAM World, aka King Tires, aka Joeyeraif, aka P Pelt sell inferrior non-watertight PMD extension cables on Ebay.

Cable seemed okay at first, but over time it gets pulled to the side the locking tab is on and lets moisture in. Corrosion and bad connections start to happen, feels like a bad PMD. See pic's.

Cleaned up contacts on PMD, plugged it back into factory harness and it seems ok for now.

Seller even refused to make good on bad cable

Someone warned me about this, and I am passing on the information now that it has happened first-hand to me!

He is high on the list of don't buy list. Like SteakSauce.

We have awesome PMDCable.com as sponsor here with reasonable cable price. Probably not as cheap as Edam but it is more reliable and more accountable. A small price to pay for less grief later.

I bought mine from Bill Heath for exactly the same reason...

I paid more, but it's been 5 years now and no issues. I also know that if I HAVE issues, Bill will be there for me. I feel the same way about Leroy at PMDcable.

There is tons of posted advice here and on every other forum saying the same thing, and yet lots of people keep going to EDAM to save a few bucks, because they see what looks like a good deal on ebay.

And every time they come back, I gotta ask "So, how's that working out for ya?"

Unfortunately, Terry and I had that conversation after he had already bought the extension cable... at that point, all I could do was warn him to keep the cable in mind in case stuff happened, because EDAM doesn't give refunds.

Terry, sorry it came to pass, but thanks for coming back with pictures and providing yet another example for other members.

I had no idea that "joeyeraif" was edam on fleabay till after the fact

Jim warned me to keep on eye on it, but like he said, it was after the purchase

So, just spreading the word, sound advice, "you get what you pay for"

I'm just happy it didn't kill my PMD

I'll try Heath or PMDCABLE for the replacement

Hey, speaking of that, does the PMD extension change fuel delivery at all? My truck is runnning WAY better with stock cable and PMD cooler on intake (for now) or was it just due to the POS cable?

Call Leroy at PMDcable for the replacement - I don't think Bill carries 'just the cable' as a separate item.

The cable won't change fuel delivery, but it wouldn't surprise me if yours had been 'leaking' for a while... making erratic half-misses in a PLCircuit is never good for performance.

Putting a new 'good' extension in there should let you get it off the manifold and not lose any of your new-found performance!

When I went from SSDIESEL JUNK CHEAP WORTHLESS SSDIESEL JUNK SSDIESEL JUNK SS DIESEL JUNK, cheap worthless PMD cooler that lasted 3 months before SS DIESEL suggested me replace all sorts of parts so SS DIESEL could make money off me...................

To Heaths unit, I noticed power gain, and heath's unit had the extension on it, SS DIESEL's didn't. I know the SS DIESEL JUNK CHEAP USELESS one had the 9 resistor, so i'm not sure if heath's did or not, but i noticed power gain with heath's.

Been almost 3 years, and no issues with PMD since.

Matt, correct me if I'm wrong but do I sense some dissatisfaction with SSDiesel on your part? You're not being real clear.:D

It's because of the accent, Leo... they're hard to understand, eh?

ROFL

Hey Matt - FYI, Heath recommends (and uses) a #7 resistor - he says it gives the best power/performance, despite Walt's 'theory' about #9 resistors.

It would seem that you're a believer!

Yeah there was an in depth discussion over the cable length and possible voltage drop on the old site. I remember reading someone(maybe GMCTD?? TD ??) Actually put one on a scope and the drop was so miscule it was irrelvevant. It was a good write up. I got mine from Accurate before Leroy was around. No issues Same price as Leroy. In fact I think Leroy might be cheaper. I know I got one off some guy on ebay before I bought his and it was pure sh^t. don't remember who but could have been an Edam derivative. Most of that ebay stuff is garbage sold by hacks. Stay with known vendors. Times are hard and cockroaches are crawling out form everywhere...JMO

Still looking at those pics it looks like the cable fried. Kinda weird. I don't think anybodys it "watertight". I would use non conductive grease or something.

Yeah, top pin and connector socket are "blackened", second has blue corrosion, and third seems to have retracted back up into harness a bit. Good stuff...

So, it sounds like I need a PMDCABLE extension and a #7 resistor

Thanks for advice on resistor. I was also sold a #9 with my PMD and cooler. It was new in box, and not from the same place as the faulty POS extension cable. They said it would be best for Old Yeller, being such a big beast (crew cab long box 3500), 4.10's, towing, plowing etc

#7 still sound right?

FWIW I had a #6 then switched to a #9, my GMTDScantech showed a .35mm3 increase in fuel delivery. I would just keep what you have, it's paid for.

I bought my extension cable from him unfortunately. But i keep the plugs loaded with NYK corrosion preventative grease.... I will never buy from him again, i bought a used pmd from him before i knew anything about them, big mistaked lasted 1 month then crapped out....

FYI anybody that sells a "used but tested good" PMD is ripping you off, IMO if it's ever been under the hood, it's a matter of when it's gonna fail not if. I have some used ones as "get home spares" but since going the Heath route I've not needed to use it.
