So my truck is a vin S but the engine is either from an F or the intake is because it has no egr valve but it still has the solenoids which aren’t working properly. I’d love to get a custom chip to eliminate the whole vac system but at this point money doesn’t allow so I am thinking for now just get a stock chip for a vin F.

I can order one from Oreilly’s for about $70 but I need to know the correct chip number for the vin F. I don’t remember the ip number but I know it’s not the odd ball 5068 and the truck is an auto so I was hoping someone would know what numbers I need to get the proper chip

Need details like manual, auto, gear ratio, and such. I don't know if I have the eprom breakdown list anymore or not, but I do know gear ratio and trans MUST match. Also need to know year and turbo or not.

I have a 95 4x4 dually parts Truck that is a vin F. It’s got the 4L80E and it should have 410’s in it but I have never looked to make sure. Make sure what gears you have and I’ll check my truck when I get back to my parents house hopefully in the next couple of days.

You can have the chip as long as it will work for you.

I have OBD II so I don’t need it.

It’s a 94 auto 4l80,turbo,3.73 ratio. If you still have something on them that would be great. I keep getting egr codes and I’d rather not buy new solenoids that I don’t plan on using later

I say 3.73s but let me check to make sure as well. That would be ideal if yours would work. I’ll check it out tomorrow

My 98 1500 was updated to a non egr intake, I just blocked the vac line to the egr. I have had egr codes 2-3 times in 2 1/2 years.

The truck was wrecked about 10 years ago and The chip has been in the computer behind the glove box this whole time so I would think it should still work just fine.

Let me know what gears you have and we will go from there.

I think if the chip is setup for 410’s and you put in a 373 Truck that the shift pattern would probably be a little funny.

Well I’m not even lucky enough to have 3.73. This trucks got 3.42. It is a 6 lug 2500 so that’s probably normal for them. I’m sure if your truck has 4.10 it would mess with the shifting in a bad way.

@Jaryd I appreciate the offer for the chip though. I wish that would have worked out. Maybe @THEFERMANATOR still has his list of breakdowns

3.73 and 4.10 can interchange chips, but 3.42 is all by itself. Unfortunately the only stock F engine with 3.42 gears I know of was the 1500 suburban. I couldn't find any of my old 6.5 papers, so no chip chart.

@THEFERMANATOR My '94 C2500 C&C is a VIN F engine with 3:42 rear. The other peculiarity is that there is a speed limiter of 82mph programmed into the ECM's chip.

Thanks for looking for that chart. So what is it going to do if I put a chip from a 4.10 gear in mine?

Also I found this old thread that makes me wonder about the gear ratios being part of the chip programming. I’m not saying anyone responding to this thread or that one is right or wrong because I don’t know. Just let me know what you all make of this old thread. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/bpaa-chip-for-my-95-k1500.13576/#post-166694

It may not shift correctly. GM used 2 different shift tables for shift points, vehicle speed, and RPM. The RPM based shift points only apy to wide open throttle shifts, but the speed based ones control part throttle shifts. The kicker is the ECM reads actual vehicle speed from the vssb, same signal as the speedometer. So lets say it is programmed to shift at 45 into 4th gear at 50% throttle with 3.42 gears. With 4.10's to shift at the same engine rpm, it would have to shift around 37 mph due to the difference in driveshaft speed because of the gear ratio difference. It may not shift awful, but you may not like it short shifting.
