Turbo comparisons on a test rig

Yeah, been there. Those days are now memories of what my mouth can get me into.

Depends on how drunk everyone is and what kinky bar they are in...

Have you been following me?

I guess I was to drunk to notice. Who did I go home with that night, The redhead or the blonde.:skep:

I guess it doesn't matter I'm sure I was good and her to if I recall............:D

Lets finalize the test criteria.

It looks like I have available 2 rigs, a GM3, GM8, ATT, DB2, DS4, high air temps, suicide mountain climb and a drag strip. Another member in the area would also like to help out with his 6.5 rig.

Need a trailer for testing and other turbo setups to attend in the easiest way possible. OR have a test plan to replicate in other locations.

I would like to come watch, sounds like a good day too me! After this summer Arizona heat isn't gonna be an issue for me.

I think it would be good if someone could get one of the HX40's that people have been kicking around ideas on as well as ??? HX 52.

When I was out in Arizona this last spring visiting some friends in Queen Creek, my buddy and I took his 4 cyl. S-10 up through Tortilla Flat to Roosevelt Dam on over to Highway 87 heading north towards Payson... All I have to say the drive was just amazingly spectacular, but heading north on 87 was just a lil more then that little S-10 could handle .. LOL

All in all, it will definitely be a perfect place for putting these old steeds to the test !!

Mike

I have vacation in october... but how in hell i could get there LOL
Sarcasm Alert
:joke: Try flying....

:reporter: News Flash, Phoenix AZ, having only recently paved its streets, found the money to build an airport that will accept large airplanes. Flights arrive daily and they have hired extra cowboys to keep the livestock from wandering on to the runway. Even the Indians are cooperating and have ceased shooting arrows at passing aircraft.

^^^lol! have you guys contacted any of the diesel magazines? i know they are usually looking for 6.5 stuff and Ian supposedly had an article going for something like this or maybe it was a pcm comparison

My $.02 is to not contact the magazines until after the fact. Rather, take lots of pictures, document everything like conditions, baselines, changes, results of changes, etc and then find out if they are interested and THEN let them conduct the interviews or have someone write it all up and let the editors help getting it into printing shape.

For the benefit of the readers. Lets put this into perspective.

Phoenix, AZ is 1,117 Feet in elevation. (340M)
Payson, AZ is 4,921 Feet in elevation. (1,500M)
My old route continued on past "The Rim" at 7,000 feet. (2133M) This area between Payson and the rim is where the scuffed and cracked piston burned through. It is also where we bagged our Elk (and the GMC truck).

The hill I am thinking of takes a couple good climbs to get there. I recall it is a 10% grade for at least 6 miles.
Shown here:

My leg gets tired holding WOT after the cruise control kicks out at 16 MPH below the set point. Wedging an umbrella between the seat and floored throttle will not exceeded the speed limit towing.

The above is one of many brutal climbs along the route we had that ended (turned around) in Springerville.
