i just got back tonight from a 2000 click trip,1000 with a 7000 lb load behind me,(and 1000 more on a side trip into the rocky's) in the 98 with the barely broke in rebuild engine and TM set at 15 psi.
this was all trough landscape with 1/2 to a ml long 6 to 8 grade slopes, with very little flat traject.
cruise set at 2000 rpm/105 km hr ,tranny in OD.
With the load, boost on the flat at 4 lbs EGT at 450F.
boosts on the slopes ran from 6 to 9,EGT 6 to 900.RPMS steady at 2000, till a downshift at 9 psi boost, when rpms went to 2500 and boost up to 12 to 15,with EGT slowly rising up to 1000 F.Only once on the longest hill i had to take foot control cause the EGT's got into the crispy zone. The engine ran like the energizer bunny the whole trip.Coolant temp steady at 185 F( i got the cooler T stats),transm temp at 130/150 F
What a diff that TM made compared to the stock setup, even my son was impressed:thumbsup:,(He has an 06 chipped out ford 350 6l diesel)that it never powered out once.Without the load, boost did not go over 6, EGT's not over 600.
I a'm happy how it ran sofar, but i suspct there is must be a chip in it(i have to check that tommorow) , as i did not get a boost code or defuelling at all.
Only thing that Pee'd me off, at WOT(only 2500 rpm?) zero fuell press, with a brandnew 93 model LP.At install idle was 7 psi and WOT still 3. halfway trough the trip press started disapearing .running 2000 rpm nets me now only 1 1/2 psi.:wtf: POS.

Time for other MODS:smile5:

Sounds like someone needs a walbro... Could it be me? perhaps.... could it be you? Yep, Bison, Sounds like its you!!

Or FTB mod, but I'd have to think walbro/prefilter and ditch tank sock shoul take care of the issue.

Good job teaching the son what you can do with older, cheaper, CHEVY (betteR) trucks!!! My daughter was impressed with my new tires too.. "Dawwy's new tires??" she says.... granted shes only 2, but she digs it!

checked for walbro LP today, not in this neck of the woods:nonod:.
i still have a brand new carter vane pump 72 ltr/hr, i might try that one, whadda ye think?.

I aint about to drop the tank again to ditch the sock( just put it in new)But feed the beast sound doable.

Yea, I told my boy not to buy that 60 grand unproven 6 ltr:nono:. He's sorry now he laid eyes on it.Nuttin but troubles.

i suggested he spend 10 grand on 2 same chevy/gmc's, keep both running and you have always one to drive. But :nonod: he had to keep up with the jones.:rolleyes5:

The Carter is worth a try as you have it on hand.

Your boy may be more receptive to your advice next time.:smile5:

I'm glad I never felt the need to keep up with the Jones.
