TM results and other observations/questions

Women with skills is certainly a more interesting subject:D

Reminds me of a classic Andrew Dice Clay line from years back. He sees a couple in the front row & asks the guy if they're together, and the guy answers "yes".

Next he baits the guy with the question "Is she good?" to which the guy answers as you'd expect him to, "yes".

Next line - "How do you 'spose she got that way!"

"Let me ask you another question, about your, sweet little angel...."

"How do you 'spose she got to be that way??"

That line??

Diceman Cometh, imbedded into my brain even after 20 years, pops back to the surface.... Who says drugs/alcohol kills brain cells??

Hmnn this thread certainly took several turns into PG-13 territiory, banter is good keeps us from being stale, lets just not stray too far off course, and be careful your wife may be looking over your shoulder some day "is that what you talk about on these forums" and land yourself in the dog house.

LOL, I seem to recall some old face book photo's Ed posted that were quickly deleted. I think he may have been caught or thought better of it.:D

Bison FWIW not sure if its my new skins or something else, but I just coded for over boost. Once this morning was up there at 9-10, it went off on its own, funny thing is, it coded again on the way home, but I was only at 6 boost on a slight highway incline.... No defueling, just the SES light.

I just got back from town, i floored the thing climbing a 1/4 ml hill.boost ran up to 13 steady for the duration. I expected my ses to come on,but it did'nt. ambient temps here is in the low teens C ,maybe your IAT is higher if your Ambient is higher than mine as well?

I did however managed to get a single 1 hg blip on the pre turbo VAC gauge as well ,just as the turbo started spooling up

I wonder if the computer reads the boost pressure differently when the ambients are warmer out. I don't think I had an IAT problem as there was NO defueling, just a SES light, no change in driveablilty. I had no problems with higher boost in wintertime. In fact, I've noticed my boost is up lately, but with the new tiresize truck is in effect heavier as far as drivetrain is concerned so may be why more boost is required. I'm gonna back my TM down some I think.

Which code? P0236, P1656.......?

'Puter, smooter. Let's talk about Ed's wife some more.. she's hot!

(OMG... did my inside voice get to the outside again? - Sorry, Ed)

236 is a summary boost code for both low or high most often high, on a hard accel with a TM only you may bump it without a fooler, add fooler or back off the TM adjustment just a touch, or best yet go reflash and the issue goes away.

Hasn't gone back on since, and I drove 200+ miles since then. Yesterday was a long hot driving day. On the way home 45 miles from home the alternator pooped out... Geeze, in the last month or so

Wheel Hub Assy
Front Axle that wheel hub took out
Starter
P/S Pump
Alternator
Tires
Cleaned Grounds (replaced one bad for sure) added extras

That could be extremely expensive to someone who has to take the truck (or tow the truck) to the mechanic.

Runnin' like a top now.

Want to note truck probably would have drivin 100+ miles maybe more with 2 good batts and no alternator assuming pulley didn't seize on you. My volt gauge never dropped from moment alt pooped out till got home.

Maybe in Matts case its too low boost, since he has it set so conservatively. With a stock chip and vacuum setup I would still get up to 13psi boost on acceleration. If he was only getting 6psi and it wanted 10 it might code I guess.

Thats very possibly buddy, never even thought of that. Just assumed it was set more than factory. Your probably right. Hasn't come on again. Reflash will happen eventually.

2000 km workout

i just got back tonight from a 2000 click trip,1000 with a 7000 lb load behind me,(and 1000 more on a side trip into the rocky's) in the 98 with the barely broke in rebuild engine and TM set at 15 psi.
this was all trough landscape with 1/2 to a ml long 6 to 8 grade slopes, with very little flat traject.
cruise set at 2000 rpm/105 km hr ,tranny in OD.
With the load, boost on the flat at 4 lbs EGT at 450F.
boosts on the slopes ran from 6 to 9,EGT 6 to 900.RPMS steady at 2000, till a downshift at 9 psi boost, when rpms went to 2500 and boost up to 12 to 15,with EGT slowly rising up to 1000 F.Only once on the longest hill i had to take foot control cause the EGT's got into the crispy zone. The engine ran like the energizer bunny the whole trip.Coolant temp steady at 185 F( i got the cooler T stats),transm temp at 130/150 F
What a diff that TM made compared to the stock setup, even my son was impressed:thumbsup:,(He has an 06 chipped out ford 350 6l diesel)that it never powered out once.Without the load, boost did not go over 6, EGT's not over 600.
I a'm happy how it ran sofar, but i suspct there is must be a chip in it(i have to check that tommorow) , as i did not get a boost code or defuelling at all.
Only thing that Pee'd me off, at WOT(only 2500 rpm?) zero fuell press, with a brandnew 93 model LP.At install idle was 7 psi and WOT still 3. halfway trough the trip press started disapearing .running 2000 rpm nets me now only 1 1/2 psi.:wtf: POS.

Time for other MODS:smile5:
