The Yukon bit the dust.... for now

the saga continues, had to get new heads, machine shop said the ones that were on my truck were horribly cracked. still havent located a exhaust manifold and i still need to get a new exhaust system..... I need a better job... lol

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! got the new heads the other day, they are new castings with diamond precups. Got the manifold situation taken care of also. starting reassembly in a few hours. will keep you guys updated

national cylinder head i believe it was. 680 shipped for both heads. i decided to go with them due to the fact that my old boss has been using them for years without a single problem

Yessir i am, so far so good. goin in on weds to start reassembly. goin with studs, thicker gaskets, etc. trying to avoid doing this job again. not really too bad in the truck tho.

Getting the deck surface "hospital clean" seem like it would be near impossible[to me] with the engine in the truck. I spend more than a hour[each side] cleaning all the old gasket material off. What did you use to remove all the old gasket?

Well, lots of time with a brillo pad, lots of brake clean and lots of rags. lol. the surfaces all came up looking beautiful. got the heads and studs in no problems at all. The truck is pretty much done, just still waiting on the driver side manifold to show up. Ill post up some pics soon. maybe another day or so but the manifold is supposed to be here today. we shall see.....

Well there was a slight delay in getting the manifold (thank you nature... lol) but the truck is done and running better than ever. will try to get a few pics of the finished job. (kept forgetting to take the camera with us....... too much stuff goin on.... lol)

Well guys, been a little while since the last update on the truck. Been running it around for the last little while. Got about 5k on the heads and all seems well now. Running upwards of 20lbs boost on it and she is running great. The new lift pump is doing great and obviously giving plenty of fuel. Leroy if you see this i will be ordering a few things from you in the next couple of weeks.

Here are the pics I promised you guys. Got the exhaust done, dual 3" with 4" tips, kodiak door handles, and rhino lined the lower sides of the body.

I have the naturally aspirated older brother to your truck (mostly all black 1983 GMC Jimmy/6.2)

Glad to hear it's back and running, just read through the whole thread. I know it couldn't have been cheap what you had to do.
