The Larry Thread

Been having some running issues of late as discussed in another post. The temp gauge seems to reading ok but she has that sluggish feeling and when you open the hood you cannot touch the motor. Decided to install the 2000 wp and Dmax fan and Hayden clutch from Gertie to see if she would cool down on Sunday. I decided to replace the ip as I had a brand new one left over from Gertie as well. Also wanted to check the timing chain out. She had less than a 1/4" of slack so I left it alone. Replaced the front seal and installed new GM Ac Delco damper and damper pulley. Swapped over the front coolant bridge with the 190* t-stat from Gertie. Put everything back together and cleaned the air filter. Started up great and in general she runs like stink now. Hooked up the Scan Tech and after about ten tries got the TDCO to read -1.94. All in all a much happier truck.

BTW checked the FFilter and it looked good... only slightly grey. Maybe I just need to short change her a few times.

Thought I would update this thread. I have not been on here in a while.... business has been very busy. I finally had to wave the white flag and I traded Larry in on a new 2014 6.0 gasser the end of May. I was so busy I no time to fight this trucks gremlins. My previous experience with the 6.5 had been great. Took a truck that had been sitting 5 years and when I returned it to life it was bang on reliable and never needed more than maintenance. Little D was basically the same- it was almost trouble free. Garry is one of the best trucks I have ever owned, it just goes and goes and is getting almost getting 22mpg these days. Larry was the demon child that gave the 6.5 its terrible rep. I was constantly under the hood. Well I guess it knew its time was up time as it cut the rubber portion of the turbo drain tube on the way to the dealer for trade in on the 2014. I did negotiate the trade sight unseen so I guess I did Ok on that on! It lost 3-4 qts and had to be towed to the dealership! BTW I did remove the ATT and some of the goodies!:)

Nothing special: rubber floor, manual windows, just an AM/ FM radio. I big ox.... reminds me of the 70's trucks- you feel like you take up the whole rd and half of the ditch! I like her well enough so far but I do miss the feel and pull of the ol' 6.5. As requested:
