taillight problems...

ok then your chasing down a red wire with a fusible link.it's a 16 gauge wire. one end is a the fuse panel and the other end is split off the main power feed. you should find 7 fusible links. one of the is the glow plug controller. happy tracking

OK...

now you might have my attention, now u said i'm looking for a red wire, and that red wire feeds power to my glow plug controller...

now when i go to start up my truck the glow plugs cycle on and off for about 30 seconds or more at times before i can start it, now would that wire be attached to that problem or is that irrelevent...

that main power feed is for everything. it might be part of the problem or you've got another problem to deal with. one fix at a time. your more than likey chasing down a corroded connection. track the wire and find where it splits off, and see how it looks. the main feed is probably starts at the alt and will end at the glow plug controller. there may also be a terminal section mounted on the firewall.

There is the terminal block on the PS firewall, you might want to try tracing that wire from the fuse back to the distribution block, somewhere in there would probably be your problem.

Your 96 should have a power center on the drivers side fender close to the cab. I'd check there and see if anything is amiss ie fuses both blown and for corrosion and broken wires.

oh, well I guess that answers my question. now did you check for power at the switch or relay. I'm think about a second possible break?

I think you should start fresh at this point, and re-wire. Find out where/how the brake switch sends the signal to the brake light wire, and test for power there. IF yhou have it, rewire the brake lights. If you don't, thats your problem.

i've fixed it it was the brake switch clip....
and the turn signals were the turn signal swich itself
but thanks for the help....
