taillight problems...

i'll try to get some pics soon but it wont do me any good to do all that if I can't get the brake light to work...
now back to my previous ? do u think that have the 3rd light unpluged could cause the brake lights to not respond???

unless it is somehow shorting out, i don't think it would be related. did you drive the truck before with it unplugged?

45PSI @1,500 RPMS ??!!):h:eek: and you are turning 5,000 out of a 6.5? and the turbo is off a ship? Wow. I would call you crazy :slap: but i like pushing things to see how far they will go! keep us updated eh? BTW, what model turbo is it?

Good luck

the fuse for the brake light is different from the turn signals. it's in the #1 spot(top left).
the other thing your can check is the switch itself at the pedal. it should make contact when the plunger is out. you want to check the set closer to the pedal side. that is if you have 2

MY Brake lights quit working,,, and I used a jumper wire to the Orange wire at the brake pedal switch,, to jump power thru the switch ,, lights worked,,, replaced the switch and lights still didn't work,, SOME where in my between the fuse block and the brake switch,, I had a lose of power. So I have installed a jumper wire from the brake fuse to the brake switch, and now I have brake lights,, and my cruise works ALL of the time,

Lots of talking to tell you to just get under your dash and fix it!

well the 3rd light isn't part of the brake cuircut i tried it with it on and with it off and the brake relay was still working(ticking) but the fuse doesn't spark when i take it out or put it in when the brakes are applied so that tells me that it's from the relay to the fuse...
Am i right...
if it is then it should be the brake switch even though i've already replaced it might be a random loose wire or something...

i'm going to need some more info on what else it could be...
also do u think that my brake switch wouldn't work properly, without the little clip that holds it in place isn't there...

is the brake switch even part of the brake light cuircut...
cause even though the brake lights don't work i still can take the transmission out of park and the brakes still work...

OK, so far,
relay to the lights, good
relay, good
switch, fine
trigger wire from switch, good
fuse, good
any power going to the relay?
are you missing anything else off that fuse?
(same fuse) hazard lights, buzzer, CHMSL?and does the TCC work right?
just trying to track down where the break may be.:mad2:

just got the updated posts. the brake light and the brakes are only connected as far as the switch is concerned at the pedal. after that they stay separate. the clip that your referring to is the one that hold the switch in? if anything then they light would end up on all the time

ok well i didn't think so but the problem is probably right there in my face i'm just not noticing it...
hey you don't think that the buzzer is causing this do you cause it was gone when i bought the truck...

I haven't figured out what the CHMSL stands for. The TCC is the torque converter control. As for the buzzer not working it may be a linked problem. they share the same power supply, so it might give you an idea of where the wire is broke.

well when i bought the truck it never had a buzzer...
but at the same time the brake lights wern't working either...
so do u think that it could be causing this...

hey just so that we are on the same page you're talking about the buzzer for the doors
right???

IMHO I think your chasing down a wire. i hate to say it. now to figure where it might be broken. you chasing down a orange wire. one last question. did you check for power at the fuse itself?
