I was just checking Rock Auto for T-stats and this is what I found. The cheaper ones are closeout. Anyone have any experience w/ any of these?

Thanks,

The one at Rockauto is a 190 degree T-stat, and Im not sure its the right application.

The 12T92E is the one ACDelco recommends, 195 degree. The other is on ACDelcos site, but it is pictured as a different type of Tstat.

I agree with buddy ... and add that I wouldn't put a Stant thermostat in a ten-speed. I've seen what the quality control is like on those...

I have been searching websites of parts stores around town to see if they have these stats, unfortunately I think I will have to go to the stealer to get them. Most of the websites showed pics and most of them showed the spring stats. The only site that had a stat that looked like the delco one was Autozone. The have a Duralast one. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them?

Thanks!

If you need them right away the stealer is usually only place to find these and they are going to be $30ish each, but can order them online as well, and with shipping dont save much, unless you buy enough to get free shipping.

Based on what I have heard, as well as what I have seen in my own use of t-stats (i.e. previous owner on the Tahoe had installed I believe a non-AC Delco part, and let's just say I was glad that the pieces of the stat didn't wipe out my cooling system. I was able to extract all the bits before they did damage).

Stay with the exact, correct AC Delco part, at least on the T-Stats.

If you don't want to buy AC Delco the only other one preffered is a Robert Shaw brand. I think Kennedy and some other vendors sell them. I don't know but you might find them online other places. The key is to have it open kinda inside out. AC and/or the R.S. are considered higher flow stat(s). And then too both of those brands are supposedly better quality wax blend in the pellet and have more accurate & precise opening temp.

Is the physical T-stat different?.....Or is the 5* temp difference what your talking about.....Cause I run R. Shaw(s) 180* with NO problem.

The 190 Delco stats on Rockauto for the single stats are definately alright, but the dual stat housing doesnt use the longer spring port thing like the picture on ACDelco.com for the 1997-2000 year trucks.

I have ordered the stat for my truck from the site I posted earlier that stocks the 195s of both type.

The first link has the correct recommended 195 Tstat, which also matches the part number and picture on ACDelco's site. The part number on Rockauto for a 190 Tstat is the one in question, that is pictured differently on ACDelcos site.
