The Speakers in the Door...

I dont know about door speakers. I have never used JLs and only heard a set maybe 13 years ago. I do like the sound of kenwood, alpine and eclipse for door stuff. and ofcourse focals which i'm running now. but focals are high end I think mine cost 1200 to 1500 a set new. I managed to find 2 sets that fell off a truck so to speak for 800 a set

Wow...Expensive sound...:D

Good info, Thanks...

Is there any quality difference between the Rockfords and the JL Audios?
I have owned a car audio store since 91. I have sold Kicker,Mempis.and Rockford. I loved the sound of the old (pre2000 ) Kickers.Memphis has excellent quality, but in my opinion they are a little pricey for what you get. My preference is Rockford. Go to an independent dealer, and let them sell you whatever brand they sell. The differences between brands, at a given price point, are pretty slim.

no pics, but I have a 10" memphis sub with 400 watt crossfire amp. pioneer reciever.

2 JL 10's under the rear seat with a kenwood amp and factory deck. \

no pics but ill snap some soon and post them up

10" audiobahn .... with the right amp i can push 1500 watts through this thing at continuous power. when people piss me off, i make em deaf. pics in the garage.

2 pioneer 10" (there slim line)
infinity kappa components in all the doors
mtx thunder 6500d for the subs (like 800rms???)
mtx thunder for the fronts
tsnunami capacitor

I used to run JL's, but I got sick of the foam surrounds coming apart and the rest of the sub still being fine. Plus they were pretty $$ for them to still have foam surrounds.

When the last pair went, I bought some Image Dynamics and I was really impressed. For much cheaper than JL I had subs that sounded better and would hit lower. Now I would just keep using Image Dynamics. They focus strictly on speakers. They don't try to do a little of everything.

I will second Image Dynamics and Memphis. I have been in car stereo for almost 12 years and both of them have never let me down. I still have the original Memphis amps from when they were Fultron and they still pump. I have only had one of their amps crap out on me and I sent it back...in two weeks I had it back with a brand new board in it and it was two times stronger than before. Both companies have great customer service and products.

OK, i got my 2 ten inch eclipse subs hooked up through my 2000 watt hifonics by using a PAC converter and tapping into the rear speakers. It isnnt as clean as i want it, has distortion and nothing compared to my friends exact setup with a headunit instead. Any one use this kind of hook up? or did anyone tap into the factory amp or speakers wires be4 the amp?

They probably aren't the best in the business but I've had great luck with Kicker stuff.

X2

I'm currently running 2 Kicker 10's in a subthump downfire box, being pushed by a Rockford Fosgate amp. I'm by no means a car audio expert, but these subs do the job.
I'll post pics ASAP.
