SS diesel supply marine injectors?

Orrum, if your truck runs great. Leave it alone. Don't get paranoid to have to change everything.
The injector in there is probably good quality. The replacement may not be that good.

Sometimes, there is no significant cost difference between new and rebuilt injectors.
In some cases, new may be cheaper. The trouble is, never know what new means.
You can get new Bosch from RockAuto for around $40. Not cheap but not that expensive either.

Again, if your truck is running good, don't change it yet.

When buying new stuff you should always get the pop pressure balanced before installing them. I think for a 6.2 the Pop is set slightly lower than a turbo engine.

Accurate rebuilt my last set and they aren't 'bad' but i am questioning whether a couple are going bad, but I am currently blaming my 276,000 mile IP.

BK95TD will be rebuilding my next set (I have 3 sets already boxed and ready to ship, just waitin on $). After drooling over Barry's multiple engine over hauls and freshening ups he has done I am confident he will rebuild injectors with a very meticulous eye and quality parts.

N/A injectors are set for ~1,800 psi. Turbo injectors are set for ~2,000. You can tell what they were set for by looking at the injector body. A red plastic "ring" around where the 2 halves thread together means it's a turbo set injector.

The long body 6.2 injectors don't have the rings. 6.5 turbo standard injectors are 2100 psi pop pressure according to the chart I have.

Bill, IMO your making a good choice to go ahead and rebuild them. With the 300,000 miles you have on its due. Most will recomend changing every 100.000K miles. It can be pricey but its time. Now that your running WVO you what to really make sure the fuel is atomizing. Maybe have Barry pop test them with your fuel recipe to look at how they are atomizing the mix??

Barry Has done mine also. Have not run them yet, but they look pretty.

yup. The Bosch 6.2 longs i bought from another member didn't have the rings on them. They didn't have "turbo set" injectors back then, as the turbo wasn't a factory option, it was a dealer option.

Now thats a great idea Leroy getting the injectors poped with my recipe! He could make it with veggie oil from the grocery store! Well that would be difficult to get the ingredients down in size. Is it legal to ship my mix in the mail?? Also in the long body injectors I see there are fine thread and coarse thread. How do I know which thread I have?

The coarse threads were 82-mid 84.Yours should be fine thread long body.

Just checked my "recipe" is classed as vegetable oil and its legal to send it in the mail! Hey Barry how much u charge me to pop test and look @ the atomization of it in a long body 6.2 injector? Deejaaa is running it in a 6.5 which I presume is a short body. We the inquiring minds would like to KNOW? I send u a bottle. I am just really curious and would like to find out.

Could've sworn it was mid-83 as the red blocks were only made in 82. Early 83s were left over red blocks IIRC, but then again GM does some weird things with production.

Hell my rear axle has "11/83" on the gears and "GM83" on the housing, and the trucks an 85.

I bought a original engine out of a 84[it wasn't red] and it had coarse threads. The nozzles are the same for fine and coarse thread long body.

Well got my SSD marine injectors in and can say im happy for now. Truck starts super easy without glow plugs, and seems to make a bit more power. Now im going to upgrade the lift pump with either a Holley black or a PPE.

Hey supersport I got a Walbro from PMDCABLE and I am getting 12 psi @ idle and 8 psi at cruisin speed and 6 at WOT! Thats with the Walbro drawing WVO blend thru a 30 micron pre LP filter and pushing it thru a 5 micron Wix FFM he sells and then pushing thru the stock FFM and filter!!!! Also since u r from NC have u seen the thread about us southern folks planning a gettogether here at the farm?http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...lina-and-surrounding-area-get-to-gather/page2

I don't remember the specs on a Holley black, but seems it will be to high of PSI also I don't think its flow on fail.

Just looked Specs are good. Still not sure if its FOF?
Flows 120 GPH at 9 PSI
Maximum pressure is 14 PSI
It cost $195 at the first site I pulled up.

I know where you can get a Walbro that is plug and play for $138

No it's not a FOF, but neither is the stock pump. And the PPE is nothing more than a HOLLEY black as I recall. I wouldn't have one just because of how noisy the gerotar design is myself.

Hello friends,
I had ordered last year even by SS Diesel. I must say - Walt, the Owner of this Shop is ok! He answer also a German, and he sent to Germany! I had my Injectors 211266 Miles in the Engine-those are the First! And I had absolutely no Problems with the Injectors ... I have read the offer and thought the 25 HP more ... Wow, I must have! But since I've installed this, I have some cold-start problems, sometimes 2 or 3 cylinders do not want to work for some seconds .... not always the same always, just sometimes ..!That i dont have not with my old.... And more power I have not even run my 6.5-same as before ... This is my Experience with Marine Injectors from SS Diesel ...

Greetings
Gunar

Oh no, not SS injectors?

They don't have a good reputation at all.

I do believe I've read that he is selling "Chinese" sourced nozzles. Not the best quality.

It's widely accepted that the marine injectors do not provide a HP boost, but they will raise egt's.

I don't think there's vendors on the site that sell injectors, so it shouldn't be a breach of forum rules to direct you to Bill Heath of Heathdiesel.com

He ships around the globe and sells genuine Bosch quality originals.

A little expensive, but at least you know what you're getting.....IE: quality.
