Just purchased an '01, CC, LB, 2wd with a 6" RCD lift and 315/75/16 tires.It has 146K and injectors were replaced at 50K back in '04. A Carfax showed dealer maintanance up through 110K, then it appears to have disappeared. The car dealer had it run through the stealership where they did an injector balance test and some trouble shooting on the tranny. It shifts really hard going down from second to first. They took it to a trans shop where he is going to put in a shift kit/valve body/seloniod etc. Throws a P1781 code which I can't seem to identify............
I also ordered some 2" blocks for the rear as I'm going to lower the rig just a bit. At age 47 the 6" lift and tires just don't turn me on like they would have 20+ years ago! The tech at RCD recommended the 2" blocks and turning the torsion bars to take 2" out of the front. Anymore than that and I'd have to replace the shocks.
We're heading out on a few trips with the travel trailer this summer. About 5-6,000 pounds on the trailer and some steep grades getting to Fort Bragg in the 100+ degree heat. What are the short comings on the rig beyond the injectors. I'm the type that likes to spend some time going through things to ensure reliability as opposed to breaking down on the trip........... Figured I'd pull the radiator/intercooler and clean them thoroughly. Coming out of the 6.5 arena, there are numerous upgrades/improvements so what should I check out on the '01. Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Any electrical issues? How about cooling mods? There doesn't seem to be very much shown on the forums in terms of issues with the dmax, thats' a good thing!
