Running Too Much Boost, And Blew A Head Gasket.

Thanks for pic's Its what I had pictured. I use the same trick on my heat sinks that you did to take off the sharp edge, but in my case it acts more of an aid to align/start the screw (like a funnel)

Made a fair amount of progress today. I still have to finish the exhaust, intercooler piping, and install the glow plugs, as well as a few other odds, and ends. I've already cranked the engine with the glows out, until I had diesel mist coming out all 8 cylinders, so it should start very easy tomorrow. Here are a couple pics.

Congrats Matt, it's looking good.
Thanks, and now its running as good as it looks. :)

The trucks back together, and running fantastic. I got my wastegate turned back down to 18, and I think I'm going to turn the fuel back down on it tomorrow, as she rolls coal a little to easily, and it liked the way it ran before turning up the fuel. Looking for maximum power is alot of fun, but at the end of the day, this is still my work truck, and I need this engine to hang in there until I can afford an Optimizer. :D

Is that a provent? hard to see.

Also, I got a couple holes cut for orings on the head studs. Im going to do a short vid and post it in my P400 build.

Great news Matt! Congrats!

Do you have any plans to check your drive pressure again? Just to be curious if your porting did anything for drive pressure.

Thanks Nate. I doubt the porting did anything for my drive pressure, as the turbo is the restriction. I would eventually like to permanently install a drive pressure gauge, but thats going to have to wait until my back pocket gains some weight. :D

Yeah I didn't know if it would do anything or not, it probably wouldn't like you said. I want to put one in mine for fun just to see what's going on for sure.

In tire resting

Boost is a measure of restriction, so porting makes the flow easier, hence lower boost, and if your flowing more air, your also "leaning" out, which will reduce boost as we don't have any kind of air/fuel sensor or boost pressure sensor to compensate, unless you have a DS4.

Couldn't be happier! She's accumulated 800 miles since the heads, and the coolant level is always full, and its running strong. I pulled my car hauler trailer with an 03 Chevy Trailblazer on it for 200 miles. I had no problem running 75-80 on the interstate. :D
