Rock Auto Injectors

Well, on a 50df startup this morning, I noticed a 2nd puff of white smoke, meaning injector leak down is enough to not clear during the inital firing of said cylinder. So my injectors are way overdue anyhow, and now forum paranoia got me worrying about ring-grab, or hydrolock.

So, I'm putting my rear tank FSU on hold for a few weeks, and getting the injectors from rockauto. I'll guinny-pig em.

New injectors DO come with copper washer right?

So the only thing I really need is some new return lines. I dont' need a new upper plenum gasket as I had it off 2 weeks ago without issue.... If it even needs to come off during install. All 'kits' seem to come with them. I can get the return lines for 7 bux or so if thats all I need. ??

Have my shopping cart full .... with a set of front KYB Monomax shocks to boot. Don't have the balls to checkout.... yet.

Well I ordered them up, with a injector socket too. Good to have in the 6.5 tool box.

I'll let everyone know how they are.

Just ordered a set of injectors as well, Matt. Thanks for the heads up!!

Just so you know, I have a scanner on the way that we can set our TDC offset's with.......... Just need a laptop. Probably 2 weeks or so I'll pick up an old used one. My carport is within cable reach of the truck through the window, but no fun that is!

Thanks Mutava. The ones I ordered are the bottom of the bosch list, new part number.

So they will be 2089 pop pressure.

I hope they come today. Already got my socket so waiting on the injectors. Was hoping be here yesterday and I'd be a wrenchin right now.... oh wells.

When it comes to injectors, I always have an original set rebuilt locally by DFIS.

These guys are a certified Stanadyne shop as well as Bosch, Cat and so on.

I am slightly ????????????/ on the online advertisers.

If the seller has a good reputation it may well be fine.

I pay $38 each to have injectors rebuilt and set to the pop I want.
Plus if there are any issues, its a quicky phone call away to get things resolved.

Just some thoughts

:iagree: That's kinda where I am. I have a Stanadyne shop not far from my house that's done my pumps and injectors for almost 20 years now. Started with veedub Rabbits, then on to 6.9L Fords and now a 6.5L Chevy. Their work is outstanding for injectors and pumps, they're ready to give all the advice you wanna ask for, and the prices remain very reasonable.

Although I stick close to home for fuel injection stuff, I really appreciate this group for bird dogging good online parts sources. Not everything that breaks on my truck is fuel-related, so reliable vendors are good to know: pmdcable/Burning Oil, Slim Shady/Walking J Designs, etc. The info shared here is very helpful, because every time I need a part, I don't take the risk of making a REALLY bad vendor choice.

Oh yeah buddy.

My first fav shopping spot for many parts especially when doing a rebuild is Ebay.

I bought many of the parts for the DaHooooley build off ebay.
Pistons, Rings, bearings and such.

All new stuff (brand name too)

Rings were MIL stuff ????????/ not sure there. Had a GM part number that checked out though.

Loads of good places online to shop for sure.

I have snooped around "Rock auto" but never bealt with them.

Man, whoever says can do this in 2 hours is full of baloney.

Can only imagine if you had AC running over the turbo side.

I took the fender liner out, and I'm happy I did.

Result...

SMOOTHness!

I still need to button things up but its dark now, and checking weather to see when rain is coming.... hate working in the dark.

They do not come with Copper rings, so I'm glad I ordered up a kit with the copper crush washers and return lines...

I can't wait to take her for a test beat.

Can't believe how smooth she's idling.

Super pain in the ass job.

Would have been impossible without the injector socket IMO.

I just kept thinking to myself, wouldn't be much easier for a garage who would be charging me 90/hr .... Should be able to write off the time for self auto repairs for taxes... Evaluated at shop rate.

:bigear: thanks for the updates Matt.
Nice find about these BOSCH injectors, and guinea pig testing you're doing will be very helpful ;)

BTW, are these german or indian ones ?

Wrapped in a protective thing to catch the testing oil with some german name all over it, but stamped India right on it... Looks as new as it gets.

Just finished up, took it around the block but thats it. Felt peppy. Still clunky as its airbound. Idles super smooth. No leaks from anywhere, so thats good. Thank god...

I had one hell of a time getting that heatshield off. I ended up prying it upwards with a large screwdrier from the wheel well.

It's not going back on.

IF you seen the shape of the oldies that came out, you wouldn't even THINK about rebuilding those badboys... rusty busty and beat. They fought EVERY TURN.

They went in smooth as glass by hand the new ones did, with just a final torque with the wrench.

I put a small dab of grease on the crush washer just to hold it in place, and a drop of Wd-40 on the threads before re-entry.
