Replacement turbo

Yup sorry Lou, you got caught up in the middle, I moved Ken's stuff that took it out of realm of ATT talk into it's own thread, and it's opened up a lot of good dialog on it's own and what I was aiming for to happen with it, you get a pass on your hi-jack bump in the road :D

I had to pass one new volvo today in big hill, boost pressure was about 19 psi top

I think that is a record, I have never saw that on mine, were you at altitude, above sea level by how many meters.

How was this measured? You sure your guage is on the money?

Was it immediately after a downshift?

How hard would it be to make something like leroys boost bolt that is a pressure releaf at say 20?

Or is 20psi safe? I'm a chicken And don't like to see past 10, lol.

But then again, boost IS controlleable by the go-pedal 100%.

I don't think I've ever dropped the hammer down do pass :)..

I baby drive my truck, smooth and steady at all times, feathering the accelerartion to make smooth transitions and load up my driveshaft/rear-end before 'getting into it'.

Little secret to 6.5.. make your 'other car' a Hyundai Accent 4 banger... That way you hop in the big barge diesel w/4.10's and DRW and it feels like a corvette!

Secret is, don't drive any newer diesels EVER!!

That type of boost won't hurt our motor because it is not sustained just peak, 20 sustained would be unhealthy under load.

well I was thinking today If I gotta pull the turbo anyway to do the IP, It would be a pretty easy swap at that point wouldn't it ??

And still alot cheaper then selling it and buying an excursion, (which in the long run will keep gettign mroe and more expensive)

I dont know how much above sea level that hill is, but i live nar it so i could try check altitude by gps some day, there is passing lines to both directions because its old hiway and old big trucks couldn't go up it with reasonable speed..
Pressure was measured with my pillar installed boost gauge, i dont know how accurate it is, but gmtdscan tech shows same readings, so they lie both or are working..
It wasnt immed after downshift, it was just before top of hill, 3rd gear and tacho at red line. 15 psi is easy to reach, but this was my record. if you are wondering how i can have enough fuel to that i have walbro frb5, really big optic bump and self modified tuning chip. homever i'm planning some mods to get more fuel

I downloaded tunerpro rt software, bought needed hardware from moates, read different chips (stock&performance) and combined features i liked best, and made some own adjustments, like cutting fuel off from small throttle positions (needed with optic bump if made really big)
Hardest part making it was make definition files, they aren't available anywhere in internet or i just couldn't find them so i had to do them by myself.
Now when i have that definition file and hardware it'is really easy to make changes, actually i bought realtime emulator too, i have usb cable coming from my glove box, if i attach my laptop to it i can change engine and transmission parametrs even engine running :D

So rather than reread this whole thread(which I have been follwing) how bout an update from current ATT users on towing and noticable differences in EGTS/IATS. Come on guys sell me...

You know what, I'm gonna pull my hose going to the upper off tommorow. Maybe it will be full of oil from leaky turbo seal and I can sell myself...;)
