Rebuild Time

I don't know why I wasn't following this thread. Very interested in the Lock n Stitch inserts. I hope it works out for you. Nice work! :)
 
There is 1 coat of paint on the aluminum parts, I'll put another on tomorrow. Got new valve stem seals in and other parts cleaned up. This is the first I've done since Friday before last.IMG_0523.JPG IMG_0524.JPG IMG_0525.JPG This is taking up time as well as other stuff, got water in the hyd. oil and it took out the brake pads.IMG_0527.JPG

One of the brakes in my 1945 Massey Harris 101 Senior has both a leaky seal and a pitted brake drum....needless to say, the brakes don't work as well on that side. For how I use it (just a hobby tractor), I don't think it's as critical as that hoss you're working on.

I like the silver you sprayed. It has a nice sheen.

Thanks, the paint is called "Hammered", in the right light it looks like it is peened with a hammer.
 
I had all the oil out and the fenders off. A mobile mechanic and I had both sides off in an hour, the forklift is nice.

Putting it together will be a bit more difficult. One thing with wet brakes is the life is much longer. These have 9500 hrs and would still be good if not for the water in oil.
 
You should try it by yer lonesome in a narrow shop with a 10' ceiling and a dirt floor and without a fork lift and help and with the cab in place like i did.;)

Sounds like fun:rolleyes:, putting it together by yourself would be tough.

It sometimes amazes me when I think of all the things I used to fight my way through doing stuff by myself that today, I wouldn't dream of attempting any more.

Mike,..i was never that eager to tackle these 2 man jobs alone but what does one do when the only one there is is you and there ain't no money to pay for help.
Today i am so used to working alone and set in my ways that a second guy would prob only annoy me.
But yeah i have to admit that stuff is getting old.
 
Well I'm screwed again, torquing the head studs down one pulls out at 90 ft/lbs.:mad:
