Poisen Ivy

When the vine matures, they have white berries. 'Leaves of three let it be, berries white take flight.'

And NEVER burn this stuff. The oil will go airborne.

I was warned to never scratch it and break the skin under any circumstance...it gets in your bloodstream and then spreads like wildfire...

The stuff grows everywhere around here and I never got it. Dogs run through it all the time to and they never gave it to me. I must be immune or something. ):h
I have been told that once you get it, it is much easier to get it again. Hope that isn't true.

not sure how true it is...but someone also told me people with "weak" immune systems are less likely to have a reaction to it...supposedly it is the strong immune system fighting it that causes the pustules to develop...

I dont know either, I was told by a doctor once, we all have a certain immunity built up to it, but it goes away after constant exposures, until we are affected by it. Im not sure whether thats right or not, it makes sense considering when I was kid I probably rolled around in the stuff everyday outside, never got it until I was 20 years old though, now I seem to get it every summer at least twice.

I've got it all over the wooded areas of the farm pasture and never pay it any mind. I've had other people come around and freak out when they see it.

Got into some of it last Saturday weedeating. I hit some leaves that were about chest high, the wind was blowing towards me and I felt a liquid hit my lips. Knew I was in trouble then, thinking why didn't I just leave it alone. Laid down everything, went to the house and washed my mouth with cold water and soap. So far I have escaped having any on my face, but I did get some on my left wrist. That stuff is nasty. A few years ago I got some on my arm so bad that had to go get some predisone pills at the doctor. When I can I lay the roundup to it.
