I use rubbing alcohol, use a cotton ball and apply it as much and often as humanly possible..

i'd leave a suggestion, but i got reamed for it last time. suffice to say that anything that dries/pull moisture out of your skin usually works. dries you out a lot, but stops the spread and the itching. like deere said, rubbing alcohol will work too.

clean everything you got real well..... best thing you can do. clean it and keep it clean. stop the juices from spreading....

luck man, i've been there before. it's no fun.

I have it on both feet right now. :(

I have been using Calagel. It seems to help a but. My wife has had bad poison ivy a few times, and ended up going to the doctor for a steriod injection. It cleared up completely within a week.

I don't care if you got reamed we would like to hear your suggestion if it really works

The shot is a corticosteroid (Prednisone). Works well if you're fair skinned and it spreads rapidly.
A cortisone creme will work also, but the only one's that do any good are prescription. Your cheapest bet, if you don't know a doctor personally, is to go to a "doc in the box" and have him write you a script.
The stuff will clear up quickly, and you can keep the tube for years to come for future use.
We have Poison Oak out here, and it works for that as well.
I hate suffering with that stuff. I get it from the horses legs that are turned out in large pastures. You can get it from you dog as well.

I get it from the dogs, cats and my self, you would think I would learn but I don't. My buddy at work suggested dry wall compound, it pulls all the moisture out of your skin.

I have no helpful suggestion, but just to make you feel better I have a funny poison ivy story. When we were kids, my older brother was messing around with a friend. They were pretty much throwing everything they could find at each other. They ripped up a bunch of plants and threw them. Then my brother went into the town hall to use the bathroom and ended up with poison ivy all over his twig and berries.

I am virulently sensitive to that stuff...so much so, that if I do not get Prednisone quickly, I turn into a zit.

The PA who staffs the MD's office tried to talk me out of it...I told him he had better give me what I was looking for, or I would becoming another MD's patient.

Nuttin but glorified Paramedics if you ask me! ;)

I used to be nearly immune to the stuff but now that I'm older I suffer. My son has to take Prednisone as well, he turns into an asian beach ball when he gets in to the Ivy.

what he said VVV.....

baking soda bath...pulls the poison out

only difference is i used bleach. dries your skin out like you wouldn't believe but it will dry up poison, at least on me, in about 6-8 hours. dilute it well, cuz that shiit is potent.

i'm extremely allergic to poison oak. can turn into a full body rash on me in about 6 hours. thats the whole reason i do the bleach. kills it quick and completely, but can be harmful.....

use common sense. luck with all that

I'm a lucky one

I can roll around in it never have had it Knock on wood. When remodeling homes and building i was the one to go in and clear it out.....My Dad was in the Guard way Baack when he came home from summer camp every time he'd have the stuff on two occasions he wound up in the mash put him outta commision for at least a week......

I've gotten it before, but I've also walked through it without getting it. The first time I tried fly fishing I had to go retrieve my line out of a tree (imagine that) I was looking up at the line the whole time, and when I looked down to find something to step on I noticed I had walked through a whole patch of poison ivy and was standing right in the middle of it. I just made sure not to touch it and washed it with dishsoap when I got home. When I have gotten it I just used calydryl (the pink stuff) but that didn't work to great.

I could bathe in Isopropyl Alcohol and it would not help. Seriously....and believe me, that hurts too...

Yeah that's what it was. I don't know why I was thinking calydryl, isn't that some kind of feminine med?
