pls help me

If you end up pulling it you can always have it bench tested 1st. . Gotta figure out if it's one cylinder causing it first. That will tell the tale.

Jim what do you think about just loosening lines to find the Cylinder ? Tech2 is nice but not always availible. Not sure iof AE or carcode can do cyl kill. I know GMTDScan can but he is OBD2

Yeah, you can crack lines one at a time - if they don't build up to pop pressure, they won't pop. It's sort of like pulling spark plug wires... the miss will get worse on every open cylinder EXCEPT the bad one.

Need to make sure you use 2 wrenches... don't accidentally back the injector off!!!!

thanks to all for the advice. i have removed the egr and plugged but no different. i pulled the CDR valve off my other 6.5 and no different so my next step is to crack the lines to injectors and see what happens. i dont hear the turbo spooling at all anymore either and waste gate is operating properly so i think!!!

well i cracked all the lines individually and found second from back on passenger side not doin a whole lot and now i am hearing a lil rattle when i shut it off like a bad valve which blows. anyone know cost of repair for this type of problem???

You still don't know squat. If that IS the cylinder with the problem, it could be different things. Sucks that it is #6, though... It is the hardest to work on.

Now you need to do a compression test.

does it help to narrow it down if it sounds like my exhaust is cracked at the down pipe in regards to intake valve or exhaust valve if that is the case???

Do what Jim said. Compression test. It's a PIA but will tell the tale. Don't drive it at this point. You may be doing more damage.

u think limpin it 2km to a shop with a compression tester will cause further damage as i do not have a compression tester for diesel

yea it is definetly raw fuel. i have read that possible failure of ip will cause the white smoke because of air being in fuel. and to bk95td...thanks for the reply i am so hoping it is not internal.

Have no fear, if it's the rocker arm retainer button - it's not that big of a deal to replace. When I bought my truck it was running on 7 cylinders. Ended up being the plastic button on the rocker arm. Dealer item only - I think there were some odd number like, 13 in a bag for a little over ten bucks. Mine happened to be on the pass side - just my luck, so the turbo had to come off. Prior to this I had never laid a wrench on a 6.5. It was not that difficult to replace.

Now I can remove the turbo in less than 15 minutes. :D

I was going to ask where you're located so I could offer some assistance if needed.....but seeing you measure distance in km's and not miles that tells me you're too far for my help :)

Ham, you can drive it to a shop, if you haven't hurt it yet, you won't kill it.

If the compression test comes back as 'leaky' - ie: builds compression sort of - the you are gonna be pulling the turbo, injector lines, and valve cover to look at the rockers and the top of the valves.. not a real big job.

If the compression test comes back OK, then you pull that injector. Actually, while you have the lines and turbo off, this is a WONDERFUL time to change the injectors, anyway - they need to be done at 160,000 km intervals anyway - since the hard part (taking everything off) is already done. If you do that, change glowplugs at the same time (same reason)

LOL... we'd love to have you visit Western Canada, Odlaw!

Did you swap injectors with another cylinder to see if symptom follows?

When I had internal valve failure there was a distinct swoosh sound of the air squeezing out.

yea i was goin to do that but seeing i am pulling that injector and it is the worst one to get to i am gonna wait til tomorrow when i get a compression test done just incase something else is wrong or if driving it back home from when it happened caused any further damage. might as well only do it once if possible. i have been working on my 93 also for a 5000km trip to ontario for both of them and the last thing i need is more problems on the road!!!

this is true... the plugs were just changed before i bought it a week ago but seeing it has 140kms on it i might as well change them now. my 93 just hit 510kms today and after putting that lift pump in it last week it has never run better...very impressed with it. and think i was just gonna pawn it off for cheap cause i didnt wanna sink anymore money into it.thats y i bought the 97 and it has been more of a headache in the last wek than the 93 has been in over 2 yrs...go figure
