Figured I'd ask over here as well. I bought a code reader, and it doesn't power up on my truck. I hooked it up to another truck, and it powers on. My cig lighter is kaput, but the aux power port on the same circuit is working so no blown fuse under the dash. I did a quick look at the wires on the back of the obd ii connector. They looked like they were fine. Gave em a quick jiggle, and nada. I looked at the pins in the front, and they are all even with the front of the connector. So I'm looking for some ideas on what else it could be. I hope to get up early enough on my 1 day off this weekend to use the daylight to help me troubleshoot. If I can find my test light could someone tell me what pin is the power so I can test to make sure I'm getting juice to the pin? I just want to be able to clear my CEL or MIL or SES or what ever you wanna call it. I do wonder if it tells me my injectors are starting to go bad if I park my truck at the bombing range would insurance cover it??? 4k over special bulleting for injectors on LB7

checked both the fuse under the hood and one under the dash (driverside door) both fuses are good. Now that I'm back home I'm going to try to find my test light so I can see if I'm getting power at the pins

Some of those pins shouldn't be grounded you should use a multi meter instead of a test light to see if they have voltage.

wonder if I got a haynes manual if the wiring diagram would have the obd2 test port in it.... Will have to go to the autoparts store and get a cheapo multi meter as the one I had got lost in my previous moves.

I have a question that I've seen a few times. I've seen CAN in reference to the obd2 port. I'm not sure what that means, and don't know if it makes a difference with how the scan tool reads or not. The scan tool I'm trying to use doesn't support CAN, and I'm not sure (but don't think it is) if my model year truck (04) uses CAN or not. Just something that crossed my mind at the end of the night. Should have the time tomorrow to actually go check the wires to see if I'm getting any juice. Just wanted to see if anyone had any input on this or not.

Well got a voltmeter, and checked for resistance on the power wire, and the meter doesn't even register that I have the lead touching anything. Had 1 other pin start to read then blank out. Got readings off the other 2 wires, but didn't zero out like they should. Lowest setting on meter is 200 Ohms. pulled the lower half of the dash apart, and not much wire until it disappears into the big bungle going towards the firewall.

Pin # 16 is battery voltage and pins # 4 and 5 are ground. Your truck doesn't have any CAN connections in the OBD II plug so do not worry about that.

Well since I got help over here with this question. I finally got off the short bus and took off my helmet. I tested the Correct fuse under the hood, and it was in fact burnt out. Thank you guys who offered help when I thought it wasn't my fuse.
