New Stanadyne PMD

What are the other options, pull the intake and change out that 15 year old IP harness and replace it with gold one? ...

They turned a 10 minute job into hour/s?

The alternative is to just buy a cheaper Dtech and the already made extension harnesses.

Yes I agree. I'm glad I sell the Dtech

EDIT: I do sell the Dtech, but have the Stanadyne also. I'm sure its a fine part, but why did they change it!! It will add alot of confusion in the buying process now.

Id like to see the price difference for a Dtech kit with ext cable, and a NEW Stanadyne kit with ext cable.

The Stanadyne may be superior in some way, but what does it set you back when most of us wouldnt put it on the IP anyway?

Indeed, and with the constant progressing in computer CPU's and chip sizes and everything else, you would think making one of these could be made superior and for little money, considering the amoutn technology has evolved in 15 years

As for me the price will be the same on both. The Stanadyne will be more work/$$ for me because I will have to depin the connector and use new gold plated pins on the ext harness.

Yep, same price on both. The stanadyne has a factory 2 year warranty. Dtech has factory 1 year or optional 7 year by me. At this point with no history to go on I like the Dtech. Once I have a warm feeling on the Stanadyne I might offer 7 years on it.

Apparantly Gold has a much better resistance to corrosion, which shouldnt be much of a factor anyway with the weatherpack connector. Its not like everyone is complaining about the harness corrosion causing them to fail.

I thought I read a while back that the replacement engine harness' from stanadyne had all gold connectors and better wire. Or is my memory playing tricks again?

Not sold on the Electronics

The DS4 is sweet WHEN ITS WORKING

I currently use a DTECH on the dually and a remote factory one on the 94 Burb.

Just too many PMD failures with the Stanadyne unit to show any commitment to those clowns.

GM and Stanadyne knew that there was a serious issue long before these things hit the streets and they let them out anyway.

Just one more example of why the car companies are on the rocks.

The could have stayed with the DB2 units and had a very good reputation instead of trying to fly the electronics before they had it done right and then end up with a mess.

The DB2 could have been used for a few more years without any issues.

Just a quick note to let anyone that may have the need. I have all the correct connectors and pins now. I'm set up to make a new extension cable for these new Stanadyne PMD'
I am proud to be the first to offer this cable!!:smile5:

Leroy

Have you sold many Leroy?

Only one of the new style so far, but as they become the only Stanadyne option available it will pick up (I hope) I have alot invested in all the parts needed.
I actualy try and steer pepole toward the Dtech, but want to have this available also if someone needs one.

Over a year and it was a cold winter. No issues with the D Tech. You know it was funny to read Tim and JDs posts back on the old site in the early days of speculating whether to relocate. It seems like eons ago. There is nothing wrong with a DS4 if you relocate the PMD. I have 175 k on one and about 150 on the other. The one with 175K sadly is going to need replacement before really hot weather. I still disagree that the DB2 was the end all. I replaced alot more of them.JMO.

I thought I was the only one who reads the closed archived threads from 2004?:thumbsup:

As for me, the warranted IP that was put in 06, still has the PMD on the pump think.....I think she's getting tired, Little surge today and the cruise kicked off once.....
