New Stanadyne PMD

Just remember if you are in cold climates the Dipacto has been known to fail. I recall seeing a thread about it a few months back.

Connector still did not come in. Not sure how they sent it, if UPS it will be Monday.
FYI: I have been offering the Dtech pmd, cable and heat sink with the option of a 7 year warranty. See my web site for info.

Personally I enjoy having mine on the front frame rail. At most it will get a lukewarm while idling. Go for a drive and its even cooler :D

IMHO the front frame rail is the best. Air flow freely over it, nowhere for heat to buildup like inside the nostrils and in the event anything needs changing or modifying, its right there.

That was purely speculation. I have one and have had no issues, and it gets plenty cold here.

You're right it was speculation. I have been using one for over a year w/ no probs. IIRC there were 3 guy's in cold weather who said theirs had failed.

I have a Dipaco on my IP, not quite a year now...about 28,000 km, with not so much as a flinch...has one year mfg warranty, replaced a good working Stanadyne with it, just for kicks.

Dunno what the (relatively, as it's been their offering now for about 6 months) "new" Stanadyne will cost, prices will vary between distributors, no doubt.

But...the Dipaco alone, is about ~500$ cheaper than the Heath offer (of the identical PMD, or FSD), but you take your chances, the warranty is not as good as Heath's, for sure.

But I'm willing to take me chances, with that...

Now THAT is some good craftsman ship right there. Very creative, and almost looks like it belongs there. Only thing I wouldn't like about that style setup is that while the truck is just sitting there idling or even after its been shut off the heat would buildup inside the plenum after disapating from the heat sink. Kinda bathing in its own heat if you get where im going.

Otherwise good idea:thumbsup:

Idling shouldnt be an issue, the PMD is in a low power state with low injection pulse width (frequency) and low amplitude (peak to peak votlage) signals.

I got it covered with a 1" thick piece of styrafoam just to combat the heatrise after shutdown.
I just did not post a pic of that.

It gets only handwarm

Were those Dipacos failing in the cold or the REMARQ's, I do recall the REMARQs failing to start in cold weather

I recall 2 different threads one on the remarqs and one on the dipacto's. The one on the remarks I thought I saw at the previous place. The dipacto I thought I saw it here. I will search and see if I can find them.

Got the new Stanadayne in today

Well, Got the new Stanadayne PMD in today. The PMD has different polaity tabs on it. They only let you plug in one way (as most connectors do). Its still agrivating that they changed it, they say they do not want to mix gold plated pins with the old non gold plated, so they changed the design.
I am working on getting the new style connector made as I would have to sell a professional cable. Good news is you can modifiy the old style connector and resistor to work, but you will be mixing gold and tin metals. That might be OK with some dielectric greese??

Anyway you can see in the picture the changes.

What are the other options, pull the intake and change out that 15 year old IP harness and replace it with gold one? ...

We may soon come to a point where these connectors sitting under intake may start to fail do to time and contaminents and extreme temps. Replacing it with a new gold one isn't all to bad of an idea. Although is it necessary?
