My Twin Turbo 6.5 (GM4 & GM8)

Went and looked today.....and it made for a bad day. Its at my other shop. At the other shop there is 4 projects outside. One being the 69 along with a 77 black Trans Am SE(Bandit), an 83 Toyota 4WD with a small block chevy, and my 66 short bed Chevy race themed truck. The local thief has hit me yet again. Got all the radiators in the 4. Including the monster one made to keep a diesel cool in a 69 chevy doghouse. They got the carb and DUI ignition system off the Yoda.

Radiator will be and issue now but I looked to see what I am gonna have to fab up for headers. Steering wont be an issue I don't think but if it is I can get around that easy...I build race cars and that just part of the job.

Thinking of a possible boxed type header. But would that cause lag? Never tried that way before but have seen many like it.

Any updates , im putting a twin turbo 6.5 in a 1982 transam and its gonna be a pain , i think odly there might be more room in some spots though , also i bit off more than i could chew saying its going to be 50 mpg or 5 litres per 100k i can get away with 5.5 litres probily as it will be po bottles or maybe a 5 litre oil jug they always hold more than the rating , i think the weight loss should help , but im no turbo expert , as far as forced induction goes wont psi increase no mater what as flow stops increasing once any psi is met , after that all you can do is pile air on top at least with intercooling it the oxygen concentrates , im going to rig up an air to colant then coolant to air system , meaning at lower than engine temps it will still benfit as its a seperate system , using a mercedes 12 volt coolant pump , i figure iany temp increase from ambiant will be lowered , a upgrade from the 3.8 sc grand prix , i prefer the t-bird sc anyway but i dont have the time money or space to do a air to air , so is 5.5 litres per 100 k posible in a 3200 pound car? All help greatly apreciated , love your work dzz71

Very cool setup. I had considered doing twins on my truck one day but since I run an intercooler its simpler to just run a good single. The charge pipes take up a lot of room that would be needed for the second turbo.

I'm running a Duramax intercooler that I cut down some to fit in the space right in front of the radiator. Would be very tricky to run twin turbos and the piping for them both to go to the intercooler. All that room disappears fast.

True, or having a "Y" pipe connection would also probably work. Its still a possiblity to do but low on the list of things to do. Plus I have a good true HX40 that I can use a single.

i put twin turbos on my rat rod. the thing that is a problem is the turbo's are designed for 6.5 so they only turn at half speed. iI guess that you need a 4 cylinder exhaust side to make them spool up sooner.

Whats the drive pressure at collector, what size is the pipes you made the header out of, and what do you have going on at the collector, the shielding hides it.

And whats up with the mechanical wate gate controller? That looks no bueno.

One side will spin up a gm8 by itself.

How much fuel are you pushing- ip and injectors?

Forgot to mention- lovin what i see so far btw!

1/4 turn, is barely any trying to spool twins- u less you have a Very built .31 pluger pump. What is the pump, and how built?

What is up with the injectors?
