My trip, the lil 6.2 that could!

Hey Crank I feel great! LOL I have periphael neurapathay in my legs so I cant feel any pain down there. Just need to grow some new skin. I can do it.

Gotta work on the fridge tomoro morn while its cool. Its nice n cold now with it switched to electric.

That's the whole purpose of the D-Max fan/modified clutch link I posted above. Kicks in 30* earlier than stock, draws WAY more air, also way lighter than stock fan so less stress on bearing and clutch. Preemptive strike on over heating.

The idea is to have a clutch that does that without modification tricks and is engineered and manufactured correctly to maintain a more constant operating temperature without kicking in and out 100%. Call it a dimmer switch effect rather than off/on.

Bill, take it easy with that foot AND the pilot light. No need to make more room in the camper by blowing out a section. Stop and smell the mesquite wood, it's making my mouth water again.

Attitude is everything Bill.....Think good thoughts and good things happen.

Defiantly know what you mean about the Hospital emergency room....If you don't tell them you have chest pain, you'll be there forever.........Then after that they're not even competent enough (For whatever reason) to give you ambulatory Medical treatment.

The Podiatrist will fix you right up......Feel Better:burnout:and just roll with it!

God Speed

Thanks Louis I will persevere but man this is a small camper n I wanna roll on! Think I will buy a fishing pole n take up drowning worms, saw a kid catch a huge fish in the lake right in front of my camper last wknd.

Paul no additions planned! LOL Like ur work finding me a doable route to Salt Lake! Whole trip will be a bust if I cant get to ur house. I really do appreciate ur mapquesting a bunch!!!!

Don I like ur routes and "books"!!! I know you put a lot of time in that and I really appreciate ur efforts!!!!!

does your fridge have/use a thermocouple? It's a fairly common repair item on alot of LP devices

According to the book that came with it, circa 1977, its probable soot buildup cause the wind down here on the coast is awesome. Book says blow it out and wash if necessary with alcohol. My dad said his would get loose rust flakes there. The thermocouple is the bulb like copper thing with the tiny copper line right? My fridge actually cools at a idle, unless u set it way cool it only needs the pilot to heat the gas. A bottle lasts more than a month so I never switch it off of gas.

thermocouple is what allows the gas to be turned on. depending on the setup it's possible to have a pilot light but still no gas to the main burner. most setups with a thermocouple the pilot light won't light or stay lit

YEE HAW the cowboy rides again!!!! Opened up the burner chamber n everthing looked good so very carefully wiped the burner screen with alcohol on a piece of lint free cloth stretched over a small screwdriver and wiped the temperature sensor thing over the burner. Got reddish black smear. Put cover back on and the pilot lit and stayed lit!!! 1977 They made good owners manuals!!!!

So heres the score......Truck, number one shape doing way more than Big Daddy GM ever meant for it to tackle and The Lil 6.2 is doing it well! LOL

Camper in fine shape, fridge a easy fix n all else is good.

Man, broken but repairable!!!! LOL

1977 They made good owners manuals!!!!

Mornin' Bill, Hope your feelin' better, glad to see you fixed the "Circa".......Safe Travels, God Speed!

In 1977 they made good everything!..........Things were made to last 40 years, not like today, everything seems to be disposable.

Good morning Bill!! Glad you got the pilot going with just sweat equity, no expense.

I know you're taking care of that foot. Good to hear you're being pro-active in your care. I know what foot pain is like. I've dealt with a pinched nerve for close to 15 years now. The nerve can be clipped, but I have yet to hear of that being an option with good results.

Sounds like if you are able to make it out this far you'll be coming by way of Idaho and I-84. If you are able to make it this far give me a heads up ahead of time and I'll meet you in the central Oregon area somewhere and show you the sights.

Delicious, made a mexican corn dish to go with them!!!! I can cook, ran a big catering outfit for years and I am here to tell that meal would make a lil wormy fiest get up on the porch with the big dogs and take alpha number one spot!!!!! LOL

Bill,

Nice cooking you did, no danger in you going hungry on your trip. Glad you got the fridge straightened out and you hang in there. Your tough and you will do fine.

Kind of reminds me of my 2006 trip out west when I got eat up by fleas, skeeters or some kind of bugs. We stayed a few nights in some KOA Cabins in South Dakota, Cody, WY and Jackson Hole. Somewhere along the way I got eat up. By the time I got to Loveland, CO. I had to stop and get some medicine at Wal-Mart. I actually thought about seeing a doctor, I looked so bad and itched constantly. My father in law felt sorry for me, but I doctored my wounds and kept a positive attitude for the rest of the trip. No bugs were going to ruin my trip.

Gotta luv u fellows viewpoint. Got all those ribs for $4 already rubbed, it was the smallest pack! I cook three meals a day. Have no money but squirrelled away all my federal dept of agriculture free food canned food and brought it to eat. Truck runs on free veggie oil and da cowboy runs on canned ag surplus food !!!! Fortunately the camper had no appetite! LOL Thats part of the weight problem in the truck, I have 11 cases of canned food!!!! Not gonna get hungry!!!
