Got to Burning Oil, Leroy after lunch today. We chatted but mostly stayed in his air condition house. Then we went for dinner and had beef bbq and a monsrer baked potatoe! Really good n more potato than I could eat. The bbq was fantastic, smoky, sweet n tender!!!!

Hot here people! I wanted to ride a airboat but its too hot in La.

Good to hear things are going well for you.

Temps for the past few days and probably even the next few is about 70 for the high and upper 50s for the lows, and RAIN (usually not heavy though). Not good for the strawberries, raspberries, or cherries. They will be splitting and molding. I've seen rain on the fourth before, but not real common. Usually up in the 80s and 90s for this time of year.

I don't think that info will be of any help to you right now though. I'd willingly trade you a bit of this cool weather for just enough warm weather to get that garden growing. It needs a bit of heat to make sure it can produce before the winter cold and rains hit.

Keep the updates going, the rubber side down, and may God bless you with safety.

Don

Don,

I hate to say it, but we've had 80s then today 90's with clear skies for days now. I've washed about 100lbs of moss off the pick up in the last few months.

Glad to be out of the valley.

Hi John! Sounds like the move is really agreeing with you. I'm not sure that Bill will be able to travel out this far, but if he is able to come this far I will be showing him the central Oregon area, Metolius for sure.

Quite a number of years ago, when the kids were in early grade school age, I almost had my wife convinced to move over to central Oregon, somewhere around the Bend/Redmond/Sisters/Prineville area. I like the dryer climate over there, and so much closer to where I like to hunt and camp.

Don

If he does make it this far and gets to see the Central hills area then push him my way.

Loving the dryer air and the sun shine. Nice to have a lawn that is green from grass than from moss. :biggrinjester:

You have no idea. Not just rust but they also turn green and slimmy.:D

You know there is an old joke in Oregon. You know why Oregon is so wet don't you? It has only one Drain. You have to look at the map.

And that Drain is soooo small!! Only about .5 sq mile in size and just over 1000 population.

So where am I? Still at Burning Oil, Leroys house! LOL Was raining yesterday morning so we went In to check thr weathef, got to talking and looking at his stock for sale thru PMDCABLE and it got too late to leave and get to the campground before the office closed for checkin. So we went to eat, it was lunchtime but we went to a place that does breakfast all day, plus regular lunch etc. Folks its bigger n Texas, wonderful meal cooked to perfection and I couldnot eat it all!

It was a good thing I delayed since Leroys brother stopped by in the afternoon n so did Deejaaa, Dave! Actually Daves whole family came. He brought his two girls and then his wife came over after work. He has got two very pretty, very smart and outgoing daughters. The lil one wanted to know if my good leg walked like the artificial one. Thats a huge concept for a little mind to get around but she had it going on!!!!

Deejaaa is very good with his Iphone. Like scary good using that thing as a computer on the internet. His battery was going dead so we were talking about my tablet gradually going dead even hooked to the cigaret lighter charger since I had it on constantly in gps mode travelling. So he went to his car and got me a inverter that plugs into the cigaret lighter and I can use the wall charger that wont let it go dead!!!! He would not let me pay for it!!!! What a family we have!!!

When Leroy was showing me his stock for Pmdcable I thought the glow plug puller that he invented an actually machines was the cats meow! So he gave me one of those earlier in the morning. I think its so cool that someone here on the site has invented so many things for our 6.2 and 6.5 engines! I am gonna get a leather thong and hang mine from the rear view mirror!!!! Hey its my truck and my interior decorating!!!! LOL

Got nice pics of TTS CAN signingd but service not fast enough here to post them but I think the campground has free wifi.

Houston is a great place to eat and also to kill mosquitoes. They have two types according to Dave. The first type is so small the go thru the lil holes in the screen door. The second type are so big they just open the door and waltz right in !!! LOL

So thats it drinking my coffe n gonna est a leftover pankake for breakfast and leave.

I'd never heard of or seen the small skeeter before I lived in southern Oregon. The name I heard was "no-see-um" and they sure live up to that name. I've also seen the bigger skeeters up in the high country of the Cascade Mountains. Timber skeeters, buzzing around you like a swarm of angry bees all day long.

Where to next?

Keep up the reports. I'm really enjoying this.

Don

The mosquitoes are big a fury here and hold about an ounce. I think the crossbreed them with seagulls!

It was really great having Bill stop in for a couple days Im glad he was able to stay a second day. Got to get to know him better the second day as the first was off alittle as far as timing and the whole "meet someone for the first time" thing.
Bill is a great guy and full of stories. Bill, If I get to NC again I'll be knocking on your door.
Have a safe rest of the trip, have fun (I know you will).

Leroy

Travel Slide II

As the Crows Fly, 1700 miles assuming the King Ranch you're visiting is the one in Kingsville TX...there's more than a couple of ranches in Texas named "King."

:hello:

Bill, some of the Desert Rats do rough it, but only out of choice and they love it. Others, well, you need to see some of their Coaches before you deem their lives "Hard"
