ACDelco 131-91 Thermostat

Engine: 6.2L V8 Diesel OHV Distributorless Naturally Aspirated IFI Mechanical FI MFI

Trim: Cheyenne
Fitment Notes: 190f/88c Thermostat, DUAL SPRING TYPE

or is it the other one you weren't supposed to use...

Not sure but think thats the one ur not supposed to use. The correct one is a two spring and I only see one spring on that one.I know for sure tomoro when I get mine at the Chevy dealership. For $60 it should be gold plated. LOL

That is the dual spring type

the cross reference GM part # for the AC DELCO 131-91 is GM# 12559338

That is an excellent price Leroy...I didn't know you carried those...sorry about the link, I will kill it...

Yep that is definitely two springs. If I wasnt in such a hurry I would get that one from Leroy. Shoulda looked yesterday n got him to overnite it to me n saved a bunch of money!

Hey Big R how u find those elevations? How about Rt 81 to Rt40 to Rt 26 to Franklin Nc? It is 19 mile farthet according to my gps.?

Hey Bill,

I have been all over those areas over the years and I have seen some that a billy goat would struggle on.

Since you mentioned it, you will avoid some big pulls by running I-81 South to I-40 East near Newport, TN. That intersection is west of Newport, TN. IN TN. take I-40 East from I-81 into NC and at exit 20 in NC. you can hop on US 276 south that will run you over to Waynesville, NC. There you can jump on US 23 & US 74 and travel south west towards Franklin. Over near Sylva, NC you would take the Franklin exit and travel south to Franklin. Whatever you do, I repeat whatever you do (DO NOT) get on US 19 from Maggie Valley, NC. to Cherokee, NC. That is Soco Mountain and it is a killer.
Just be sure when you get to I-40 in TN. you go east instead of west. I-40 west from I-81 will take you to Knoxville, TN.

I-81 South to I-40 east into NC will have fewer big grades versus the I-81 to I-26 East route into NC.

As I-40 East travels east from TN into NC you will be traveling through the (20 Miles) Pigeon River Gorge. It is curvy, but there are no big mountains on the roadway. I-40 through the gorge is a gradual climb from the state line to exit 20. If you travel through that Gorge just watch the big rigs and keep your eyes peeled for any rock slides. Tractor and Trailers are restricted to the right lane and they get bunched up in that area. If you need to stop in that area there is a welcome center around the 10 mile marker. There are two short tunnels on the east bound side, but you are through them before you know it.

I know of some breath taking drives through the Smoky Mountains from TN to NC, but trust me you don't want to climb those mountains from Gatlinburg, TN into Cherokee, NC. If you were just in a truck (with no trailer) or car that would be a good sight seeing trip

I hope I have not confused you, but if so just ask me some questions.

Hey Pepp I will point out the info u gave me to the parts dept, bht bottom line is tgey got me. Hind sight Leroy could have overnited it to me n I would already have it. My advice to members is call Leroy first cause he can get things that arent even on the website. My bad but I have learned my lesson!

BigR u r da man! I am not confused but happy that u gave me the directions n info!

Well Bill, did you get on the road yet?????? Did the new gold stat fix the temps???

You should get Leroy's and some other people here's phone # and write them down so that you can get help and info if you need something else, might save you some trouble next time....

Gold plated stat at GM was wrong according to all info. I got it anyway n need to return it. Pepp was right I called their hand and they reduced it to $42, its $22 if u order it online n ship to ur dealership. I have ordered one from Leroy that is definitely a ac delco double spring. Was in Marion Va n did not have my tablet or Leroys phone number so I called Paul, Paveltoz n got the number plus he sent a pic to my phone to show the parts man. What a fantastic resource we have in the TTS Forum!!!!! Called Leroy and he put in the express mail n said I could pay him when I got there!!!!! LOL I told him I would pay him on his website as soon as I got home but he went ahead n mailed it with no payment! Yall we got a great vendor in PMD Cable for sure! I fought that ac problem n finally got it fixed n I tell u when I get to the bottom of this I will know and share with you all what the great big secret is about what is the right tbermostat!!!! LOL

That really stinks that it was the wrong part. On the plus side, you do have the right one on the way from Leroy. Hopefully it gets to you tomorrow and you won't have anymore problems.

TTS is a great resource and the best group of guys I have run across on the internet.

Have you removed the old one and looked at it yet ?? Is it the right style stat, drop it in a pan of boiling water and see if it opens up fast and all the way...

Have not taken the old one out but the guy I got the truck from last summer said he had just put one in from NAPA. I know that it was not a Ac Delco cause they dont sell them. I suspect it might be the whole problem. We shall see, good thing I am not on a two week vacation cause half would be gone waiting on parts! LOL

My parents live in the heart, I say HEART of the blueridge Appalachian mtns Leroy! LOL Hopefully it be here tomoro. By the way I cant figure out how to pay u so plz send me a message with instructions, thanks for your help in the pinch pardner.

Ok Sctrailrider here is the update. Took it all apart today n cleaned all the gasket gunk off n made it nice n smooth. Put the old stat, by the way it was the correct one, a Ac Delco. Anyway put the tstat in a pot of water n boiled it on the stove, water came to a full boil for about a minute before the thing opened, did it twice with the same result. If I remember physics correctly water boils at 212 farenheit but since I am about 3000 feet above sea level its even higher before it boils, cant remember the formula. So yes I feel the stat was sticking. Other than that just eating my moms cooking n enjoying my longgggg visit.

Sorry Bill. I hope you get the part and fix it soon! At least you are getting some quality time with the family. I am about 3 hours north of Orrum. Maybe I will swing by someday when down near Fayetteville or visiting the coast, since it doesnt sound like your trek takes you my way. I hope your trip goes great and this is just the hiccup that get's the bad out of the way early leaving smooth sailing ahead!!!

Looks like You will have it tomorrow. Here is the tracking # EO883644365US www.usps.com
