Looks a little different now. Only thing I told him was I don't know about putting a gasser front bumper on. was there ever a debate on what those holes are really for ?

Wow. Either swapped or painted the grill, changed to Euro style headlights, changed parking/turn signal lights, put a cowl hood on it, and painted it? Wow.

Well, He called me today. Said getting a loud knocking sound from Pass side rear cyl(#8 ??) No water in oil. Had a mechnic loosen inj line, no change to noise. Pulled valve cover and he said vavle train was ok. No loss of power no smoke. sounds like it spun a bearing from what he is describing but he has it at a shop.

Maybe it's from putting gasser parts on it:D[bumper]

Ya beat me to it. I was trying to remember the bad places and good places to get a reman engine. I told him(IIRC) INternational diesel bad ??
Diesel Depot Good, Peninsular if funds permit, the best.

Should do a sticky on good/bad engine suppliers.

Depends on where you are and how much you want to spend there have been some low milage used engines on ebay lately. Mostly bread truck engines. They've been coming with a transmission attached for the most part

The bumper holes are for extra cooling air. There is a air deflector to use it behind the bumper. If it is needed depends on how hard it gets worked.

All you have to do is look at the restrictive grille, lack of any restriction in the bumper holes and their size. You bet it does something!
