My Old 2 Door Tahoe

First thing I would ask him is if the mechanic is a diesel mechanic and if so, does he know the difference in common rail DI diesels and this oddity.

The bumper holes were for the air intake. Air is directed to the fender to get cooler air. Not sure why anyone would not want them.

is it RPM dependent, or heard at idle, or are there any starting issues? Maybe he should pull the Glo-plug out, see if its in one piece. Some starter or tranny related.

It always amazes me what people will do to a car/truck right after buying it. The initial cost of the purchase always wiped out my bank account to begin with. The pictures of the tahoe reminded me of the guy who had bought my 96' when i sold it in 06. I have since bought the truck back after the guy dumped over 10 grand into the body and paint. All within 2 weeks of buying it from me. Dont know why he had to ruin my well kept teal paint, but oh well. Ill repaint it back some day....

This picture is recent, after i had added some more lights, bedliner, and a some other goodies. It now serves as my service truck, as well as hauling our mini excavator and skidsteers. So i guess the whole deal worked out quite well :D

Lovely looking Tahoe.

I would love to find a 2 door diesel Tahoe.

Put my 94 Burb up for swap.

Still looking for a mid 80's to 91 K Blazer diesel.

I have not heard back from him but he was buying a motor from 6.5diesel ???
I would not have dumped that kind of money into a trruck that old. Those heads would have been slapped on a 6.2 and dropped in.

The bumper holes are for the engine oil cooler, which is mounted directly behind the holes at the center of the bumper and the plastic baffles direct air through the oil cooler.
