My new 6.5 Burb flying out to pick this up tomorrow

Wow, elaborate on what you saw, seeing that you had a one way ticket, ready to buy, and then decided to not buy and spend on a ticket home it must have been really bad.

Sorry to hear.

$260 dollar flight home learning experience, better then a $5K one :>(

Yup I am so very disappointed...:mad2:

BUT I am also very grateful for being part of this forum and for the shared information that was provided to me here.

I very easily could have been overwhelmed with the condition of the NO rust and went ahead & purchased this truck & got stranded 500+ miles from home out in the middle of NO where's-ville:eek:

On the test ride the ho-made veggie setup developed a serious diesel leak (must have been my departed Father watching over me from the heavens above) after that I just looked at the gent & told him, sorry please take me back to the Airport...I'll be flying home not driving :eek::eek:

It was an awkward 30 mile ride back to the airport, but the gentlemen was a stand up great young gent & did not blame me one bit for my decision. :agreed:

He even asked me what he should do to sell the truck...I informed him...REMOVE all that veggie chit put it back to stock & it will sell.

Oh well live & learn too bad it was a rust free southern truck, but no way I was getting involved with all that veggie apparatus...:rolleyes5:

You wouldn't have been really stranded.I had you covered there. I think it would have been a great opertunity to lowball the guy. Maybe he would have bit. Hack jobs can be fixed. Rust free bodies are hard to come by around here. But then again, I'm a sucker for anything 6.5. I think my sig proves that.

Ditto on the rust free body.

I'll take a sick or toasted drivetrain over a "cancer case" any day....

Sorry about the bust trip to get the 95. Takes some courage to walk away like that. I know you want a burb but there's a "3rd place alt fuel" winner 98 K1500 from GA on E-Bay. Nice looking but pictures and descriptions don't match 100%. Like the "F" intake upper he claims but pictures an "S" complete with the EGR wart. Still, he's done a lot of work to it. At least he claims to have.

Yea the body was sweet, needed tires & sounded like one or both of the front wheel bearings where going south.

It was extremely clean for most 95's I have looked at here in the snow belt. The truck actually had only spent one year in Minn, it originated from down south, he might have said Virginia or South Carolina, he had owned it for 1 yr.

Barry maybe I should call him in a couple weeks & make an offer...? I would for sure need yr help before I considered attempting to head south to Ill with it...

Chit happens all the time, in reality I feel more fortunate that I didn't buy it, could have really turned out bad getting 1/2 way to northern central Minn & having an issue there.

Wonder what his reserve is at...? Nice looking truck I agree.

What I really want is a Yukon/Tahoe. I called about the one that someone here posted for me in Nebraska & had the dealer send me a bunch of pics. It's a rust bucket with 180K & they they are asking $7900. I marked that one off my list.

That sucks bad to have went all the way there and then not buy it. I think you said he mentioned that it did have the veg set up on it?
It sure looked nice. I actually thought about buying it because it looked so clean and I really liked the looks of it. If I didn't already have a 95 burb I would have went and looked at it.

The other thing that would suck would be the thought of getting another rubber glove treatment.

Like Barry said finding a rust free truck in this area and probably yours is hard to come by. It isn't going to be any easier to find a rust free truck. Mine are for the most part rust free and I do hate rust. I don't know what I am going to do when they start rusting.

Mabey, like Barry said, call him back and low ball him. I think I would call him back sooner than later. He is already probably thinking about all the work he will have to do to get the Burb back to stock. And if he isn't going to do it he is probably thinking about all the money he will have to spend. You already know him a little bit and might have an idea about how much he would be willing to knock off. I would start very low and see what he says. Better to go to low and come back up on it. Keep us posted on what you decide to do. Heck Barry might even want it if you arn't interested in it.

I had my opportunity, I'm gonna pass on this.

If you or anyone else is interested the truck is still listed on Craigslist located in Minneapolis St Paul Minnesota.

I believe in karma...the truck was very clean & yes I admit the ad stated it had a veggie setup, but I had no idea what that all meant until I got there & started asking questions & really looking at everything that was part of the veggie installation.

I am barely diesel literate & have zero experience with what it takes to run veggie oil reliably. Nor do I know or understand the long term effects that veggie oils have on high milage motor.

One other thing to do is to poke the frame with a screw driver or something. There is a member in the other forum who bought a suburban with the frame made of painted styrofoam. Of course there was not a sign of rust although it was somewhere in the NE coast.

Well, I wouldn't look at it as a total loss....

You now have a better idea on what questions to ask (pictures, componenets, etc) when you find another one.

Education is never money wasted....:)

Wait till you read greg's next thread:D:thumbsup::thumbsup: It should have a much happier ending.:skep:
