Motor from Ted's Trucks not happy at 1st, VERY HAPPY with GREAT after sale care

I'm pleased to hear that they want to try and make it right, though. Veg, please post back and let us know of your conversation.

Looks like more than shipping damage there. I was feeling bad about using a 6.2 again with this 6.5 source. Perhaps these engines are not run before shipping out? Interesting to see what they do about it. Hopefully you do not have a deadline to get the truck back on the road for income like I did.

Nothing "perhaps not" about this one!. Rust pitting cyl of walls takes a while,it don't happen overnight.!

Indeed. That's what I am confused about. Margaret told me on the phone that they run these motors three times on the stand over the course of several weeks, the last time supposedly right before they are shipped.

I guarantee that motor would have run on a test stand. Its not like you would have the benefit of feel and everything to know something might be odd.

Did it come with coolant in the block? If it was in the cylinder and came out the intake port that must have been tipped over, but more likely would be it went into the uncoverver intake port, but where did it come from?

Agreed should be exchanged, Im just saying they didnt necessarily lie about running it, rust was there, engine ran for a while, doenst get rid of the rust. These run under worse circumstances, holes in pistons, main webs broke, cranks broke, not even the seizing liquid in the oil could kill one of them as evidenced by this

Never seen rust linger like that in a engine that was run shortly before. The pitting stays, but the rust will be scraped of by the rings and there will be nothing left on the piston tops or valve facing either.Coolant don't make rust.
Only way to get water in there is by sitting outside with the intake and/or exhaust ports exposed to the weather(it won't rust in winter either)

Secondly i can't see one going trough the time and hassle of installing all the components on every engine to make it runable, test runs it and then stripping it all off again for the prices he sells them for.

Frankly,i don't believe him.

looks like the rust was scraped off the cylinder walls, which could also have been done just by cranking the with a starter to get a compression check.

I spoke with Margret and Ricky at Teds and all is WELL. They were very apologetic and are sending me another motor. I am having them pull the heads to check the bores first.

I AM NOTHING BUT HAPPY WITH THE OUT COME! DO NOT BE AFFRAID TO BUY A MOTOR FROM TED'S

Not only are they sending me a replacement, they told me to do whatever i want with the other one.

HUGE SCORE !!!!!!
Two for one you lucky bastard.

Just kidding, I wouldn't want to go trough the aggravation.

Although it should be an easy and cheap rebuild for a backup or to sell to help get the price down on the first one.

OMG..what happened??
Looks like it got tossed around and flooded!
There is no way we sent it from here like that...
He has not called us yet, I really would like to talk with him. I can't do anything until he calls us!
The damage alone to the crate I hope was noted by him when he received the engine.
You know I hate this...
I will let you know what I find out!

That was the mail she sent me after looking at your pics.

Customer satisfaction will pay big returns everytime...

That is great news thanks for sharing

The motor he is giving you will pay him back many times over! You have to be happy with that customer service. Better luck with the next one :)

I would have no doubts about buying another from them or telling someone to buy from them.

I kinda feel guilty having this whole FREE motor. I can bore it out and put new pistons in. Sell it or keep it as a spare.

I know what you mean and I would too but by now they know what a source of customers they have here at TTS so they're gonna make sure they don't mess that up...

I told them that three members bought an engine this month alone. And more were considering buying one from them.

And I gave her the site address and she read this thread but couldn't see the pics as she's not a member and that's why I sent them in an email and talked to her on the phone about it and she told me she would send him a new one because that's the right thing to do.

Just read their ad on ebay in it's entirety and you'll see they are upstanding people.

The key words were we treat people the way we want to be treated.

I was just sayin'... So don't misunderstand.
They've impressed me as well.
