Congrats 6.5L!
Like most issues, I simply breezed through the pages of my issue of DPM, once again disappointed in the articles like I always am wondering why I still pay for a subscription to this crappy magazine.....
And like always after finding nothing of interest to me I flip to the back to see if there is ANY hope for next issue, and low and behold THIS TIME THERE IS!! I knew exactly who it was when I saw the picture and the 275 rwhp in the description, its you!
I agree with everything you guys have said so far. Every time they mention the 6.2/6.5 its almost always in a negative light, like when they talked about gas vs diesel and how diesel is easier to get power out of (EXCEPT 6.2/6.5s they said). It really irks me.
Like the doomsday diesel, what a joke! Dana 60 front, sweet I'm all over that, 80s 3/4 burb, awesome, 5.9 cummins, are you serious? Like I don't read enough about cummins swaps in that mag. Want a real doomsday diesel? How about a rebuilt NA 6.2 with some cold start upgrades. It will run forever if kept cool, will start well at low temps, won't suffer from turbo problems in various environment, will run on just about anything, and the power won't break anything else on the truck! But I guess a 6.2 isn't cool enough.
I am sick of ghost tows too haha 6.5L. I live in a college town so all my fellow ag students who think they are something else with there cummins drive around with the mirrors flipped out like they juts got finished hauling cars across the country or something.
And where do these people get their money to build these trucks? Just like Husker said most of the feature articles are simply advertisements for shops that did all the work and the catalog of products that got bolted on to the truck. All the owner had to do was smile and write the check. I mean come on. No innovation, no hard work, just a bunch of overpriced crap. Did you guys see the picture of the guy that owns the black dodge on the cover of this month's issue holding his expensive fox shocks? He looks like he couldn't tell the difference between an inline six and a v8!
Sorry for the rant but you guys struck a nerve with me ha as I read your posts. It has ALWAYS been my dream to get my truck as a feature in DPM, maybe someday I will. Anyways congrats 6.5L! I liked your LTE too. It's about time those guys get a mouthful. I think they are starting to get the point that not everybody with a diesel has 50K+ to drop on a truck, and that there are ACTUALLY people driving IDIs still!
Looking forward to the article! It's too bad their "budget" (which seems to be large enough to undertake some of these madly expensive projects like project triple threat, doomsday diesel, or the sleeper max, or that trailer tow thing) wouldn't allow them to do a full story like your 6.5 deserves.
I am gonna put a diesel in my 71 and I want it to be as bolt in as possible, maybe I should write in and ask what I should put in it

what they wouldn't know is that I have already decided on a NA 6.2.....
