Injector Nozzles

I just wanted to update this thread since I was posting some info in it about a year ago.

Increased pop pressure to 2200psi saw no gain on the dyno over 1800psi, and Im sure the 2500psi sticks would have seen no gain either.

These pumps simply don't like high injection pressures, and will leakdown if it is too great. My experience has been that the amount of power lost from leakdown is proportional to the amount gained with better burn characteristics, so its really a wash, with the only result being more load on the pump. I have began setting all my pop pressures to 1800psi with seasoned springs, and giving my attention to the nozzle side of things by adjusting the size and profile of the orifice, results have been good, and pulling pressure off the pump is great for getting all the fuel out of these severely limited pumps.

Opening up the orifice size on a 6.5 injector, will cause less pintle lift. Same goes for upping pop psi. Almost all of the nozzles I drilled, leaked, but if the ones that didn't leak, had more chatter, and a nice spray pattern. Even one thousandths bigger completly changes the way the nozzle operates.
