I might join the 6.2 club :D

for that price, yeesh, it is almost worth that in scrap! :) you will have more in fuel getting it than you would the truck! did he say where the rust was? hopefully it was on the box...

off topic, but there are GMT400 6.2Ls popping up around here. there is a 93 RCLB K2500 6.2L auto 4wd that just showed up on local classifieds...

79 doesn't have any rust at all. Floor pans are even solid from what he told me. There is no carpet in it so he should be able to tell. The bed is rust free to, it was just removed for the frame up restore and never put back on. If it is bad then I can steal the cucv bed. I might get the front clip off the cucv and doors too, I am getting the seat for sure if available (I might as well take the whole thing).

Just an update on the upcomming project and what I now have lying around:

I have purchased:
82 1/2 ton which will be easy to get running after some reassembly (just accessories and a seat) and then I might drive and tweak it as desired before getting to far into swapping engines and what not.

86 CUCV no title and the guy that has it is going to keep the axles for his mud buggy (i dont blame him). It isn't perfectly straight but it isnt terrible (the hood is toast), has 68K on a 6.2, th400, t-case, good fenders, cab, bed, dented doors with spare DS door in the bed, good tail gate, and heavy rear leafs. I dont want or need another 4x4 so this is strictly a parts truck.

NOW THE PLOT THICKENS......

Sitting next to the CUCV was an 81 2500 2wd (exactly what I have been searching for), it has an I 6, 4 speed manual, around 12 leafs in the spring pack, was a city maintenance truck, cab is in great shape, rust on one cab corner and it is pretty small, doors have cancer, bed has minor rust but is trashed, same story on the fenders and hood and it has a good seat!

So now I have 2 trucks with solid frames that need some body part swapping and paint, 2 running 6.2 engines on J code military and a j code intake coming for the other, a I 6 to sell, all the body parts I need to get atleast 1 good truck and a good start on another, one 700R4(i want OD trannies so i will sell the other 2), Possibly found a banks turbo manifold no turbo attached, and one heck of a scrap metal pile!

I got most of this for $800 total!

Now my thoughts have turned to possibly building 2 trucks with 6.2s.

Keep the 1500 700R4 figure out what gears it has and probably change to 3.42's I dont want a total dog. Drive it as is for now and slowly rebuild it as i Collect parts for it and get funds. CUCV cab will go here for sure.

Put the J Code into the 81 and start swapping body parts, If i get the banks manifold it will get an ATT and if I dont get it then I will build a manifold and get an ATT, NV4500, mostly stock suspension wise, 3.42's. build a DD tow rig that gets ~20 MPG. JUST AN IDEA but very likely.

I will post pics of everything when I find the adapter for my micro SD card that got lost when I moved. I will also start a build thread for each project in the Project section progress will be slow at first until I can get my own house bought (1500 square foot, 3bed, 1 bath, 60X100 round top shop, and 20 acres :D ). My parents wont allow the dismantling of vehicles at their house (major kill joys! lol) and the trucks stay out in the cattle pasture away from the house and behind the corrals lol.
