Heat on the pass side is what makes that one usually go 1st.
Rotation of the cooling fan puts more heat on the passenger side along with being further back from the front where it is hotter. Heat kills batteries more than cold including Optima. We get an average of 2 years out of batteries here and warranty is just about no questions asked in AZ because of that. Optima's go ~3 years here. Same service factory ACDelco goes 1.5 years. Both cooking off the passenger side first.
