How many miles are on your origional brakes?

My truck has 110K miles on it. I bought it at 48K I have not replaced anything.... So I am guessing that mine are still original...

98000 on mine and still original. But my ABS light came on tonight - I think my fluid might just need to be topped off. Guess I'll be checking that tomorrow.

220k+ miles and still original brakes, they look good too, imo they look good for another 150k miles, the dealer says they don't do very many brake jobs since the new style brakes havee been out.

first set at ~50k, second set ~95 k.... those have cracked. all 4 across the front. time for some new ones..... again  ....

Just got the truck inspected and the brakes are 70% there yet at 167500mi. I am happy.

Bought mine used with 79,500 miles on it and I've put about 3000 miles on it and haven't done anything with them. They look stock to me like they haven't been touched.

I have about 50K on mine. Recently, though, it started to feel like there was something under my brake pedal. The pedal travel is still the same, but I used to be able to apply the brakes with one toe and the thing would stop on a dime, but now its getting scary if I'm pulling something. I'll have to check something, but I'm not sure what.

Hmmmm interesting as I'm getting ready to inspect mine as my peddle feels low. I'm around 65k. The rears have been changed at about 10k with a blown axle seal.

I'm also going to replace and bleed the fluid out to synthetic.

I know I just did this (swap to synthetic DOT 3) in my Jeep and what a difference in the brakes. Pads and shoes were at better than 70% so all I did was bleed entire system and change fluid and the brakes are out standing no crap! Peddle is firm and right on top.

What DOT should I be using in my truck? 3? 4? 5? Someone told me 5 doesn't effect paint like the old stuff? Definately going Synthetic

It's amazing how crappy the fluid gets over time! It has to effect performance. I have one of those Miti-Vacs so it's fairly easy to do alone.

Be careful if you switch out to a DOT 5... I changed out my Mustang to the 5 and did not flush the lines or calipers. The stuff congealed with my original DOT 3 that was in there from the factory and I ended up re-building 4 calipers and flushing the whole damn thing out

PITA

265,850 miles on the original brake pads and when I replaced them they were still over 3/8th's of inch thick.

That's just crazy!!

Although, a Kid I know has over 130k Miles on the Original Tires on his '02 Denali XL and they are not Dry Rotted or worn down at all, passes Inspection every Year.

I got 110K on a set of Michleins and probably could have gotten another 10K but winter was coming on and I was running the highways and decided to change them before it snowed.

The GM vehicles have some really thick pads and are made of good material. I changed the pads because the pads and rotors were glazed and not stopping as well as they had been. I probably could have worked them over with crocus cloth and kept going but it is to much of a job on a dually to get to them so I went ahead and changed them out. I suspect they are the only pads I will ever put on the truck.

30k and still looking like new. Its things like this that make me forget about tie-rods being weak and the tiny 245s that come from the factory. A little give and a little take :D
