How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

1990 most likely an electronical speedometer.
Check that the electro/magnetical pickup thingabob at the tail shaft is producing voltage that allows the speedo to function.
Check for broke wires along the way between that thingy and the firewall.
 
What trans is in your rig? if it's a 4l80e then itll be an electric speedo, 7r400 uses cable driven.

I have one of those GPS speedo's, they work decent but they take a few minutes to connect and register speed when turned on. they are also nice to use to calibrate your speedo once you get it working.

Its a 4L60E sir, Shift Kit 4 controls it (built by Gearstar)
 
Going back on the injectors, I have an idea.

Remember the other Motor I told you all about? What if I took those out, and sent them to that one user on here that could test them? That way, my current vehicle doesnt go down, but, theres still a set of injectors to test.

The only difference between that motor and the current one is that its a 1990 one, and it has alot more miles, thats it

I rather not have my K5 down, it was down for a decent amount of time last year, and, id hate to see it go down once more.

But let me know what yall think, I say it's a win win solution
 
Well, sending a set of old injectors that are most likely worn out means they need s full rebuild, not just pressure adjustment. So they will need new pintles bought for them then the adjustment. So it is almost same cost as just buying new ones then having them adjusted. You probably stand to save $100 at most. Imo it’s worth the extra money to start with new ones
 
It also depends on which injectors both the engine and your k5 have. normally a 6.2 in that era used the long body injectors which can work, but iirc the thread connection for the IP lines could be different. also the long body injectors may or may not fit with turbo exhaust manifolds. need to find out which ones are on your k5.

I think I have a couple of old long body injectors in my stash, if you need a pic of the two side by side let me know. there are also different part numbers on the sides of the body too, both use different nozzle and pintles as well.
 
buying new injectors nowadays is a crap shoot if you will get genuine Bosch nozzles or something made in china even when getting Bosch branded ones. what you want is the ones made in Germany, but most come from India unless it's a chineseium copy, but that's not saying India made ones are bad. again some china made will last and some won't. best thing is to get them from a trusted source, then have them checked and balanced. @Rockabillyrat is our resident expert on them, I'm just a beginner LOL

I used a set which had china nozzles in them to rebuild and they performed better on the test bench than the bosch used one so ymmv!
 
I will never again install a new set of injectors unless I send them to @Rockabillyrat and have them checked and adjusted to within as close a tolerance as He can get them.
I believe He is our resident professional on such as the injectors and manual injection pumps.
I hope someday He sets up to test the DS4 pumps too.

I am but a lowly E4, I wish I could do all that i would LOVE to accomplish to the 6.2

I have told myself that if I got out of the AF and went back to NYC (yes im from there and yes I will be taking it back) that id love to redo the headgaskets so I knock that out, valve covers, seals and gaskets for everything.

What was your AFSC if i may, Im V-Ops and have been in for nearly 3 years now, its great to meet another member out in the wild
