There is your power issue climbing grades.3.73s, 33inch tires
Been told to swap gears, but, I dont go climbing hills on the daily, still, quite unfortunateThere is your power issue climbing grades.
Yup, the OD plus Fluidampr keep it fairly quiet, it climbs up to 85 slowly but damn if it doesn't cruise calmy, even the boost guage doesn't show it going to crazy levels, nor the oil pressure guage and water tempI assume your rpm is fairly low at 70mph in 4th with the TCC locked.
Apparently it's not as common for people to have those as opposed to Banks, haven't met anyone else with such a setupI'm not familiar with the ATS turbo, others here are. I will let them chime in on that for regulating boost pressures. just keep it under 12psi unless you have head studs installed. but also to avoid cracked main webs.
The A-team turbo was specifically built for the 6.2/6.5 crowd. it's a very good turbo.Apparently it's not as common for people to have those as opposed to Banks, haven't met anyone else with such a setup
Yup I'm aware, I get surprisingly decent MPG (my friend with a 454 BB Suburban envys it) with ityou've got you a highway cruiser with that setup, but don't expect to pull anything heavy. being that you have a 4x4 if you decide to do a gear swap, youll need to do both axles. but if you want more power to climb and to pull/haul go for 4.10's or a higher ratio then install a gearvendors overdrive unit behind your trans. it's a lot of investment but you'll get the best of both worlds.
also smaller tires too!
Apparently it was a dealership option, supposedly, but i never could verify that statementThe A-team turbo was specifically built for the 6.2/6.5 crowd. it's a very good turbo.
I'm still running the asthma attach GMx turbo.
It's only been issue when climbing steep hills, but as I said, I dont go out and do that at all, its very rare for me to do that, other than that, it drives decent at highway speeds, city driving, etc, peep my other comment for the video referenceHas it always had this issue since you bought it or is this new?
The black smoke is unburned fuel. It can happen from air intrusion, but 95% of time is lack of oxygen to burn all the fuel. That oxygen is supplied by air flow- so a restriction in air filter, or lack of boost.
The ATS turbo was a dealership option on Ford, not GM. The dealership option in early days for GM was the Banks Sidewinder.
Take several pics of the turbo, try to find the name plate on the turbo. When you post the pics please DO NOT choose thumbnail.
Ill try to send photos when I'm home, it's almost dark out here, and the winds are getting intenseI recall seeing some pics of your setup and it looked very different than others that have them. would you mind posting some more pics that details how the turbo setup is?
where is your tach? I noticed your low coolant light is on! LOLSee here how it cruises at +80 MPH, notice the guages, what they read, and how their motor sounds like

Since always, but this is the second or third time it's done so when going up steep hills, and the first time was like 2 weeks into when I first owned itCritical :
Is this new, or has it always done it since buying the truck?
