This week i am putting together a natural 6.2 and was doing a couple little tricks ,hopefully to help it run better and that got me thinking and wondering .... has anybody ever built a 6.2 natural for more hp? I did a little research and came up with nothing. At this point i am just curious to see if anybody has dynoed a mildly built 6.2 non turbo and what are the numbers ?

Very interesting, I'm sub'd. I heard of one floating around the forums at one time but cant remember who's it was, I dont think it had been dyno'd.

Doc Lee over on "The Diesel Page" built a bad ass 6.2 N/A, I saw & rode in when I was over his neck of the woods in Miami Fl. I assume he is still active over there but it's been a while since I've spent any time over there, with my current job there are only so many hours available to participate in web site with.

Diesel Page was the genesis of 6.2-6.5 websites/blogs I started over on that website back in 2000 when I bought my 6.5 learned a LOT of stuff there, some still relevant IMO "must have" publications for sale over there for newbie 6.2/6.5 folks.

Still a good source of info there, though best stuff is now in archives that require paid membership to view.

Doc Lee's catch phrase was "We don't need no steenking turbo" :)

This engine is being put together as cheap as possible with parts laying around the shop. If i was going all out i would built long tube headers for it .....

Doc, any idea or estimate what that one made for hp? Did it run as good as a turboed truck?

I never saw any dyno numbers, it runs/ran as good as a turboed 6.5 with some mild modifications, it could not keep up with a fully peaked 6.5 with ATT turbo on it, Doc Lee did state for max power a Diesel needs to be turboed, but for a daily driver his peaked 6.2 would leave a smile on your face and surprise some folks that talk trash about the 6.2/6.5 not being able to perform.

That is absolutely awesome!! I highly doubt mine will run that good ..... That's what i was curious about. Still would be great to get some dyno numbers.

The one i am working on now will get dynoed the end of October . Be very interesting to see what happens!

I've done seen this project underway with all the goodies and parts lying around the shop. Going to be a nice runner and I very well think you'll get the numbers too Verlin!

Any idea what he was getting for fuel mileage? I am hoping fuel mileage is better than a turbo engine, that's half the reason i am doing this.

A 6.2 gets you were you wanna go...cheap,.....just don't be in a hurry.
The ponies are limited
Cheap is the name of the game here! I'm putting this one together with parts i have laying around the shop
I may splurge and buy 4 inch exhaust but that would be the most expensive item i am buying!!

Ahh, not sure I'll get to dyno this engine this month. We've been really busy working in the shop so I've not had time for my own engine to get back together. But once it does run it'll get put on the rollers, then it gets a turbo!
