I am offering a kit to convert your dim back up lights to extreamly bright HID back up lights. A normal kit is $199, but the 88-98 body style is $245 because of the printed circuit board style lights we have. The boards cost me an additional $30 a set then I have labor to modify them.
I will also sell just the alluminium adapters for $30 a pair and you can mod your own. Without retyping the whole thing again just please check out this thread for more info.

Good stuff.

I've contemplated making a set myself (my truck doesn't have the circuitboards anymore) but I haven't really gotten around to it.

Thanks, I was begining to wonder if anyone was around. It sure is slow!

I've also got the LED taillights with a regular B/U bulbs. They would work well for the convertion.

Sorry for the confusion, I do not have LED taillights for sale, but have a set in my truck. I assumed you did also. I was trying to say that if you/anyone has the LED taillights that they would make for a great convertion. A member had PMed me asking about converting his LEDs.
Thanks

Leroy

That would blind em for sure. I did do that to my friend that pulled up behind me. I could see them clearly in the mirror with stuned looks on there faces.

Disclaimer: do not do that.

Too funny Leroy. :)

Lol... Super dangerous Buddy! Those tailgaters would be seeing sunspots for miles... Probably give them flash burns.

I have the Chrome or Silver LMC LED Tail light set. Part number 37-7346.

The reverse lights are bulbs though (LMC #37-0306)

and measure about .55” in dia. and 1.4” long.

The molded opening’s inner diameter is .6”

Although there is room for modification as the socket fits into an opening that is rimmed and almost an inch in diameter.

There is also about 2.5" of distance from the edge to the lens.
So there is room for modification...for the brave.

For tail gaters, I set the cruise control and then slow down one click at a time about every 10 seconds until they get the hint and go around. My wife just slows down to 5mph under the speed limit and smiles knowing she's really got them pissed now.

Yours is just slightly different than mine. Mine uses a 3157 bulb, but going by the picture it looks like my kit would work on yours. Below are pictures of mine.

Aftermarket LED taillight using 3157 back up light bulb.

This is with my adapter, but for this picture I just grabed a regular halogen type bulb. The HID bulb would look exactly like this except would have a pigtail of wires coming off it.
In this application it looks like it was born there (looks stock)

What are members thinking of this kit? Have not sold any for the 88-98 trucks. I seem to sell them for Fords, (installing a kit tomorrow) newer Chevys and Nissan Titans mostly (so far). When anyone actualy sees them on my trucks they seem to sell very well. Anyway just curious if I am marketing this wrong or could do something better to aid the sale.

Thanks.

Leroy, they look good and are very bright. You just have to remember that you are marketing them to a bunch of cheap b*st*rds that run old vehicles.

So don't take it personal.:)

Like with many things with 6.5 owners, demand is born from necessity. The marketing stragety would be to convince everyone their current lights dont really work at all :)

I'd trade for a chip!

My concern is how to get them to attach in the currentl location as I have the aftermarket units now that aren't 315X but more like a larger version of the 194 bulb sockets for the front side markers. Do the bulbs come out of the aluminum or Aluminium (sic) adapter that appears to twist lock into place on the OEM 315X fittings? meaning, in adapting the existing lenses, will I have to allow for the ability to pull the aluminum adaptor off or simply twist to remove the harness and bulb like I do know (as shown in my earlier post). If the bulbs do pull through the aluminium adapters, then it would seem that all I have to do is drill out the existing hole from .6" dia. where it is now (effectively destroying the ability to go back to the old bulbs) to .75" and figure a means of securing the aluminum adaptors of the HID bulbs to the plastic. Some sort of epoxy I guess.
