Help with injection pump issues

Still waiting for SS Diesel to respond. I did get an initial automated reply and its been several days since that with nothing. I sent an email this evening asking for a response. Not feeling too positive about it. I've re-adjusted and re-set time and reset TDC offset commands several times with the same results.. At this point its not looking good, if I don't hear from SS Diesel by the end of the week I suspect I wont. Then I have to pay a Stanadyne shop in SLC UT additional cash to fix what should have been "tested" and "rebuilt" by SSD diesel per their doc on their page for injection pumps. They also got my old one as they charge for a core charge and that has been over a month since they recieved it and I've heard nothing on that too. Lesson learned pay a authorized shop to repair it for you
Which shop here in SLC, Gillett?
I had an issue with an SS Diesel "Cold Air Intake Filter" many moons ago (2008). Product came on the truck I purchased and, yeah, good luck with that. Sorry, I don't have his number anymore. But, I got lucky and was able to get a replacement part that was an improvement over the one that choked out my turbo. Got even luckier the part didn't destroy the turbo.

Long overdue update on the injection pump... SS Diesel never responded to my warranty claims. Ended up finding an authorized Stanadyne repair shop in Ogden (Baker's Diesel) and learned that the issues with the pump were what I had determined by research and testing. The small advance advance piston was stuck inside the side large advance piston. The shop went through the entire injection pump and everything else was fine. Jim was great and has 25+ years experience, very good to work with. He gave me the parts he replaced and you could see issues with them. I installed the repaired pump set the base time and the pump works great.

If you ever experience timing issues where the pump wont advance and the stepper motor and optical sensor are good, chances are its the advance piston.

Thank You for responding back what You found to be the problem.
Now You might get a rush of IPs to take to that shopnto get tested and rebuilt. 😹
You're welcome. glad to provide some help where I can. Thank you to everyone on the forum for your help and input. It gave me the information I needed to narrow down the issue. I'm glad there are shops that can still repair them and KNOW what they are doing.. Had I known this a lot of time and money could have been saved but it is what is at this point. It been my experience that most shops can't stand the 6.5 and don't want to work on them or don't have anyone who knows the injection pumps and can re-build and fully test them.

I moved out of UT and to ID this fall and had a busy summer out of town with work so unfortunately the truck sat. I was also waiting on SS Diesel. Based on my experience, I'd avoid business with them they are terrible. All I received was an email when I sent a claim. It stated, "were are looking into your warranty claim" I received nothing else. I also never got the core charge returned either and the pump I turned in worked better than the one I received! I re-built the engine and figured a new injection pump would be a good idea..

Baker's Diesel is a good shop, ask for Jim, he's a great guy and knows his stuff, very honest guy. As far as the shipping the office lacks a little. The receptionist never sent me a tracking number, they never insured it and she misspelled my street. I asked if they could ship it and she said yes. I was never asked if I wanted insurance. I assumed that because they are a specialty shop they know how much they are and would insure it for the cost a new replacement. I gave them my credit card and it could easily handle the additional fees for insurance. Luckily the people who received the packaged (in my same town) held onto it (as a week passed by as I was waiting for shipping updates from Baker, which I never received).

All in all I'm a little frustrated but relieved the 4+ month ordeal is over. I'd still recommend Baker's Diesel just be very specific on what you want when you ship it and call them the next day for tracking number.
