. . . what happened [to the] 936.00 for 4 LT265 75 R16... ouch
Depending on the age of your spare, that math might come up short. When I got the Burb it still had the original issue spare so I was out for 5 tires. Call me what you want, but at least I will not take the gamble of running on a 13+ year old spare if I need it
As a side note, a friend of mine pushed back with 'but it has *plenty* of tread left' when I commented on his B-Van's tire age of 5 years and it was time to budget for new ones within the next year. 18 months later he purchased a new set of tires as one of them blew-out while his wife was at the wheel; he also thanked me for not mentioning to her about the earlier comment
iI always take my best old tire and swap it for my spare tire. This way I'm not running around on a 15 year old spare, but rather a 5 year old spare. And MANY people don't believe in changing there tires at 5 years old, but these are also the same who will scratch there head when one of them blows out for no reason at 75 on interstate.
it actually had 245 75 16 on from the factory.. No one had'em in stock around here so i went to the 265's and i am leaving on a 750-800 mile trip tomorrow so i didnt have time to order the 245's I didnt trust the maypops it had they were sun cracked really bad..
