Going mechanical with a Moose Omega Marine IP

Sorry!! I finally opened it Sunday, but it looked like a regular DB2.....so a little anticlimactic, though I knew it wouldn't really look any different on the outside. I did get a nice t-shirt with it though! I will share pics of the pump when I start mocking up cable brackets - hopefully this week. image.jpegimage.jpeg

A free shirt!? Makes me want a Moose Pump just for the shirt. Leroy only gives stickers [emoji16]

Looking forward to you getting this thing together!

You have a Leroy Diesel sticker!?? I've never received one of those . Actually the shirt wasn't free, I asked for them to include one and they charged me $12 or $13 for it. They did include a free sticker though!

Have to buy something within last year to get a sticker :)

You can instantly turn any tee shirt into a Leroy Diesel tee shirt by applying the sticker right in the middle of your shirt. Just like Superman!

Ok, there better be one with my trans controller when I order it! ;)

Does the Superman sticker thing still work even though we don't have phone booths anymore??

I have like ten Leroy stickers. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing....

I only have a pile of receipts, but I have the same question as you. I think it depends who you ask: guys like us will think it's awesome, my accountant on the other hand will not be as impressed (despite Leroy's great prices). :D

Just take a selfie and post it here, Then you'll have all the powers of a super hero :)
HEY YOU GUYS!!!

Ok, finally some progress. First the unpacking pictures. The sticker, the fuel filters and how it was packaged. Check out the tag and how it reads "OMEGA MOOSE PLUS"! Next note the Ford inlet with -6 AN inlet fitting. Still only 5/16" ID though. I'm going to confirm that is the fitting they had on when they flow tested it. If it was then I'll leave it alone because it must flow enough to get the kind of results they got, if it wasn't installed then I may drill it out a little to try to optimize flow. Here are a couple coolant crossovers I picked up before the snow to use for mockup purposes. One is a standard dual thermostat, but the other is a rare 96 single thermostat that I couldn't pass up when I noticed it. Finally a couple pics of it installed on the mockup engine.

If you CPA needs a reason tell him your getting better fuel milage.

Haha :)
Stickers? Gonna have to get to ordering some more stuff from Leroy now hahaha
Get that credit card out ;)

Good pictures Nick, what crossover you going to use?
Thanks Leroy, and good question. Let's see......

I bought an original DB2 throttle cable bracket with fast idle solenoid off of eBay. Not surprisingly it wouldn't fit, so I had to chop it with the bandsaw.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

That was the easy part. Then I found the bext obstacle - the fast idle solenoid itself. It hits the dual thermostat housing but clears the single one like it's meant to be. I know there are some people that say the single is actually better than the double, but I can't make that make sense in my head. Why would it not be better to have 2 thermostats to flow coolant through instead of 1? Wouldn't that flow better? Here are some pics. Note how far away from the holes the double is from being able to bolt up but the single is actually bolted in.

image.jpeg image.jpeg

So I'm trying to see if I can fit the fast idle with the dual thermostat. I unscrewed it from the bracket and you can see in the first picture at first how far away from working it was. Then I found an orientation that looked like it might work, but the actuator rod was too far from the throttle arm on the pump. The rod is threaded though, so I turned it in until it reached the arm. I think it might work, but that's where I stopped for the night. I really want to make the double work for a couple reasons: 1. to see if it can be done and have that info available for others if it does work and 2. maintain the flow of the dual thermostats. So what do you guys think? Will I give up much or any flow with the single thermostat? Is a high flow stat available? Think the dual stat alternative mounting will work?

Gm says the duals flow more, but Ive always wanted to test how much.

The factory crossovers all are cumbersome and get in the way. I've often thought of making my own, then just doing an inline hi flow thermostat.

Duals don't have the bypass block built in is the main reason the singles are supposed to be better.

I run the DB2 on mine with duals. I'll try to find a youtube video of my set up. I just got a new computer and don't have photos on it yet.
But basically I turned the neck upside down and made up a new radiator hose from the stock one and another (joined them together) I had to reroute the turbo air to upper intake, but you won't need to do that with your set up.

Found a vid. You can skip to 2.17 and 4.50, 5.16 and 6.01 for glimpse of the set up.
If you want I'll get a picture and a part # of the hose i used.
