Gm Head Gaskets

Well the 4021 gaskets, oringed block ,and stock bolts are holding so far.

The 6.2 I'm currently running continuously blows the gaskets at the end cyls, the deck is pitted some. So,as a last chance option I completely sealed of the water ports with epoxy . The front 2 aren't used anyhow, and simply relocated the rear 2 . I had some felpro gaskets that needed used up,so I flipped the firings to enable the orings to bite. Sounds a bit idiotic, but its working so far.

Sealed the ports in the head or the block?

By Relocated, could you elaborate on the relocated part? Relocated from where to where?

What do you mean flipped the fire rings?

Thanks!

I epoxied the head and block ports, and simply enlarged the lower rear steam hole. I had to flip the fire rings, because they were Felpro, bottom side is to narrow for orings. I also torqued to 150 ft lbs,so far its working fine.

Sounds good, thanks for elaborating. I've long thought of killing the ports on the block and heads in that area and directing flow elsewhere. I'll look at the gaskets, but I think I like your idea of the steam port for passing the coolant to the heads as a good solution.

Originally I was thinking tapping the back of the block and using the block offs up top as inlets into the heads. Was also thinking that Cometic would make some gaskets that didn't have the coolant ports on them for this purpose.

Thanks,

John

I have the rear block off plates tied together, feeding the heater core. This way no water is trapped in the back of the heads.
