Fluidampr...IMHO Waste of Money

Whats that video supposed to show, that they have a loose belt? A before and after?

Yea that's what i was gonna say? That looks like a loose V-belt with a solid crank pulley. My K-5 will do that if the belt's loose.

yeah they all look like that. it's mainly because Gates discontinued the proper belt for the 6.2

I've had pretty good luck with the Gates belts on there now. They are special order now from the place i get them from. Can't remember the series, but if you want a set for the CUCV let me know.

5725. Yes it works better than a 7 series but the 6.2 alt was designed for an 8 series belt which Gates discontinued, heck 15 yrs ago now maybe more. A Gates 8 series belt was a damn near indestructible belt. it generally outlasted the motor. Of course Gates a no maka no money so they discontinued them saying their 7 series was strong enough. Bull ****ing shit. A gates 7 series belt won't even last 3 months on a 6.2. The special HI Per green belt, the 5725 is better but still only good for a 6 months to a year at best under heavy High rpm use. That is why alot of 6.2 owners opt for serp belt. it really is the only way now to fix the problem.

My problem is I really wanted to keep my dual alt setup up which converting to a Serp belt will make all but impossible but mine eats belts as well so a 12v conversion is probably on the way. Maybe I'll use a series parallel switch and keep the 24v starter.

Hi Kenny,

Now that it's been a couple of years, has your opinion about the Fluidampr changed?

Thanks,

Rob :)

My customer finally bit the bullet and he got me to get him one, he's wanted one ever since he heard my van run. He has a 98 Dually. The engine sound before and after is night and day, plus its soooooo much smoother. Not sure what balancer SS diesel used to sell but I installed one of those a few years ago, its already coming apart and wobbling. He tows a ton of weight so the motor gets hot.

I have loved the one of mine that I have put on. my 91 6.2L has to turn at 3 grand to maintain freeway speed, and I feel tons better about it with the Fluidampr on.

going to ask Leroy what they are these days and probably get one for my 93 K2500HD. I had one, but got short on cash and sold it to my folks. they have one on their 98 K2500HD that the toque converter or tranny is on the way out. got a horrible vibration at 2,000 RPM. the Fluidampr took alot of the vibration out. definitely not going to take all of that out since something mechanically is obviously out of wack, but it sure does its best to fight the vibration.

Yep at 75 with 4.10s I'm pushing 3k as well. They bumped the speed limit to 70, big trucks and all here in Ohio. Let 'er rip tater chip.

Kenny hasn't been on here for 2 years.

Noticed that about a lot of posters. Kind of sad. Missing a lot of really good input

I've had Fluidamprs on everything for many years. The 6.5 I put in the 89 went 500,000 miles and I've always done the same things I did to that - which wasn't much. Fluidampr, engine oil cooler lines, Amsoil front to back. Quality filters. Best quality parts I could find every time.

I'm still not sure what happened to the 89. I still think it very possibly could have been hydro locked. I wasn't physically able to do anything at the time to check it out. At 800,000 miles, I had my money's worth. Surely am still curious to this day though.

The main chinese part problem I've noticed in the last several years is bearings and seals. A couple of my mechanic friends say the same
